Black Air Tigers strike in Colombo

The above photograph was taken just 2 hours before the LTTE black air tigers completed their suicide mission in Colombo. Claims by the Sri Lankan army that the planes were "shot down" are false. This was a planned suicide mission. Both planes were packed with explosives, and their intention was to explode themselves in the Capital. The body of one pilot was recovered by the Sri Lankan military and shown on television wearing a black tigers' uniform.

The above photo also proves that Tamil Eelam national leader, V. Prabhakaran, remains in PTK as of today, directing the defences against the invading Sri Lankan army.

Both black tigers, Col. Rooban and Lt. Col. Siriththiran, had appeared in many photographs with Prabhakaran after successful air raids on Sri Lankan military targets. In the past their faces always remained hidden, and they wore the regular air tigers uniform (which is blue in color). Below are a few of the photographs they appeared in after their successful missions.

bhadrinath, do u have any news on the damages caused to katunayaka and SLAF HQ?

I believe this attack was meant to be psychological more than physical. It was timed to coincide with the protests being conducted in Washington and Geneva today, to bring the Tamil struggle to the national headlines.

2) Prabha is hanging onto both of them...looks desperate no??

3) Why are they in Prabha's bathroom? no more staged photo's outside? Seems like Prabha hosted them while sitting on his toilet seat.

Did you notice the amount of fear in Colombo that was present as soon as there was news that an air strike was imminent? Imagine what would happen if an actual war occurred in the South. What would happen if a larger air force targeted Colombo.

The Sinhalese have allowed the war to go on because they have never had to feel the fear of war. I think this was just a reminder to let you know that fear may come to Colombo one day.

Hi Badrinath

Thanks for the story.

You should have put your famous numbers like 5000 of SLAF KIA. SLAF's 23 planes damaged etc, It does not make us laugh.

exactly , the tamils are getting killed day by day in 100s , still the tamils never expect the LTTE to do the same to the sinhala civilians, they are against the armed forces and the political war mongers not against the sinhala civilians, if the LTTE does it hten for sure the sinhalese would go against the war in fact the war pain is shared equally among both community but very sad the sinhalese do not understand the pain caused in the name of war.

As the TAF is wiped off, and PTK about to fall, more and more Die-ass-pora are now becoming doves of peace... :D

I'm sure soon Badri will put an article saying... "Armed Struggle is Useless, Tigers strategically withdraw in to Politics"

After all we have to admit that this was a failed attack. Nothing has achieved out of this. Honestly, these are the final days of LTTE. Tamil diaspora should understand that LTTE did many mistakes. Proscription of LTTE in the foreign countries came not only from the effort of Sinhalayas, but also from Tamils who were branded as traitors by LTTE. It was a silent effort by peace loving Tamils.
LTTE days are numbered. Tamils have to find a honorable leader not this megalomaniac. One can write a book on this whole episode. Rise and Fall of LTTE-a failed effort of carving a seperate state in Sri Lanka.
Hope there will be a devolution after the war is ended.

@ Badrinath:

The population of Colombo alone is more than 6 million people of all ethnicities and we control 65,510 square KMs. It is going to take a hell of a lot more than 2 dinky little donky planes to scare SL people.

Y'all have 1,500 terrorists & 100 square KMs. We have a WHOLE fleet of pretty decent fighter jets of all kinds. You DO the math. Who's scared of who motherfucker?

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

Dear Malindra, you made my point clear. With two tiny planes, everyone in Colombo was trembling, but with an unlimited supply of modern weaponry you can't scare the LTTE. They have accepted death as their duty and aren't scared of anything you can do to them.

The last single mission by TAF today negated all the success it enjoyed from its earlier missions. Losing two premier pilots on the suicide air mission for just killing not so significant 2 enemy folks considered as success, then we have serious problems here. Yes, if they have killed MR and GR or just one of them, then it would have been different story. Anyways, whatever it is, I salute their effort. All my concern was that we lost two lives for nothing.

Tigers took a big gamble. They lost two valuable air crafts (they would have been destroyed in two days anyway) and they lost two pilots. For what? They could not do much damage. It is a desperate move from their part. Obviously time is running out for tigers. Can't wait to see Prabha's head on a stick.

Some of your sla boys probably shit in their pants when they heard the blast of your so called government controlled area. Why so scared? Scared of death. Your people just got the smell of fear, wait until you pussies all get wiped out. And for the cause, i would like to comment on Malindra's comment, why are doing math here; we are talking about people's life, not about some numbers.

Mainly, i would like to bring up a law that some of you little educated sla's would know of. Every action must have an equal and opposite reaction, so you sla's unless you can find out a way to discriminate Newton's law, you guys would win some prize.

Peace out.

NEW DELHI — Two rebel fighter planes circling over the Sri Lankan capital were shot down Friday night, with one crashing into the government tax office and injuring 42 people, according to the government. The aerial raid comes weeks after the government announced the destruction of all rebel air bases in its final push on rebel territory in the island’s north.

The Defense Ministry said that one of the rebel planes had been shot down by the Sri Lankan military, and that there were “slight damages” to the tax office, which is near the Sri Lankan Air Force headquarters.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have struck targets near the capital, Colombo, in the past, but the government has been celebrating its near-victory over the rebels. The approach of the rebel planes shows the rebels’ continued ability to carry out terrorist attacks far from the combat zone in the northeastern corner of the island.

Also on Friday, Human Rights Watch, based in New York, reported a high death toll in the conflict: 2,000 people in the past month alone as the government advanced on the last wedge of territory held by the Tamil Tigers. An estimated 5,000 people have been injured, the group said in a report released Friday. It accused both government and rebel forces of “numerous violations of international humanitarian law.”

Failing to distinguish between the trapped civilians and the rebels, the report said, the government has carried out “indiscriminate” artillery attacks on civilians who are trapped in the war zone, shelling hospitals and other designated as humanitarian “safe zones.”

Cornered and desperate, the Tamil Tigers have responded by using civilians as human shields and forcing others, including children, into service as fighters and porters on the battlefield, Human Rights Watch said.

The sides, the report said, “appear to be engaged in a perverse competition to demonstrate the greatest disregard for the civilian population.”

An estimated 250,000 civilians remain trapped in the battle zone, pinned down by government fire or held captive by rebel forces.

“This ‘war’ against civilians must stop,” said James Ross, legal and policy director at Human Rights Watch, in a statement that accompanied the report’s release.

The report was based on a two-week fact-finding mission to northern Sri Lanka in February, Human Rights Watch said. The Sri Lankan government’s refusal to allow independent journalists, rights monitors and most aid groups into the area has made it difficult to report conclusively on the situation there.

The report came as John Holmes, under secretary general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator at the United Nations, visited the country amid increasing concern for the fate of the ethnic Tamil civilians in the north. On Thursday, as he prepared to tour displacement camps near the war zone, Mr. Holmes called on both sides to try to avoid civilian casualties.

The government and the rebels, who are also known by the initials L.T.T.E., have rejected previous criticisms leveled by United Nations agencies, humanitarian groups and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

A Sri Lankan military spokesman, Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara, said Friday that members of the military “are not violating any Geneva Conventions or humanitarian law,” according to The Associated Press.

Those who flee and end up on the government’s side are sent to government-run internment centers, which are military-controlled, barbed-wire-rimmed camps in which refugees are denied their liberty and freedom of movement, the report said. Humanitarian agencies have tenuous access, but their aid comes with the risk of supporting a long-term detention program for civilians.

“The L.T.T.E.’s grim practices are being exploited by the government to justify its own atrocities,” the report said. “High-level statements have indicated that the ethnic Tamil population trapped in the war zone can be presumed to be siding with the L.T.T.E. and treated as combatants, effectively sanctioning unlawful attacks.”

Mr. Ross said, “The government seems to be trying its best to keep its role in their ordeal away from public scrutiny.”

It seems as if you have lost all of your hope? "they have accepted death as their duty"... Did I just hear that from terrorist?!? What happened to "oh yeah no big deal..we'll capture the land back next week"... "oh yeah we killed 5,000 soldiers and took 10,000 POW..." What about "oh yeah we destroyed the 59th Div" - man you're ALL talk. Just spin. Endless Spin. Nothing but Spin. Even here, those 2 assholes accomplished nothing. Lost 2 planes and died like rabbits. You call that a success?!

LTTE is done. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. So called "struggle freedom" aka terrorism is on LIFE SUPPORT and about to loose that soon too.

It is time for the Govt to put forth a viable proposal for Thmails and muslims to self rule. I personally like to see them have control over taxes and a police force for each of the 2 provinces, East and North, within a UNITED SL. Thamils are VERY diverse people. No one part should be claiming to be the "sole" representative becuase if they do, that'll be a bunch of BULLSHIT.

What do you think Badrinath... would this work? Can work together with Karuna's and Pilliyan's people? Can you work with Devananda? Can you work with Anadansagaree? Can you work with other thamil leaders who disagree with you? As much as terrorist as you are, and we want to see you perish along with Sun dog, if you live we want you to have a good life as well. DENOUNCE terrorism. Follow other former rebels and join the POLITICAL process for god's sake.

@ Turtle G:

Newton is absolutely correct, only when he's not incorrect. Every action does have an opposite an equal reaction. This case, this swift kick in the terrorists as IS THE RE-ACTION to terrorists' actions. Only difference is the reaction wasn't equal. It was an overwhelmingly greater force LTTE exerted on Sri Lankan people (people of ALL ethnicities). So it would appear Mr. Issac Newton wasn't always entirely correct outside of Physics.

Unfortunately, Newton never said, every action has an opposite and equal reaction and another reaction to the previous reaction! WHICH means in our context, LTTE will not have a response. The cycle is complete with our REACTION. Theriyama???

@ Turtle G:

By "math" I didn't mean math literally you moron. It is a figure of speech. Put that Physics book down and learn some English phrases, call it slang if you'd like.

I was responding to Badrinath on the issue of "fear" 2 donky planes created. He thinks 6 million people of ALL ethnicities were scared of 2 toy planes. I was explaining to him from that line of logic HOW SCARED SHITLESS the 1,500 remaining LTTE terrorist when the SL people own a whole fleet of decent fighter jets! Comprehendez? Theriyama thammbi?

This war is effectively over. I don't think there is a true winner in an war. Both sides have lost lots of lives. Valuable property has been lost. Lots of families from both sides have been rendered dysfunctional. People from both sides are suffering heavily. Insane amount of money (necessary) of money has been spent. But at the end of the day GOOD has prevailed. Sr Lankan people (Thamil, Sinhalese, Muslim, Bugher & other) have prevailed. EVIL has been neutralized. Let's build our country back up. A country which accepts everyone irrespective of religion or ethnicity. Let's bring a hopeful tomorrow for all its' people. Let's build a fair and a just society. Let's become a beacon of hope for other countries struggling with similar problems.

Our people are literate, educated, smart and hardworking (truly hardworking). YES WE CAN!!

Yes I'm SLA but dumb bastard, I'm not a sinhalese Army. I belong to & work for people (Thamil, Muslim, Burgher, Sinhalese & other) of Sri Lanka. And I'm VERY proud to say that I infiltrated WANNI many many times as a reporter loyal to the opposition leader (at least that's what LTTE thought I was) - During my trips to wanni, I gathered valuable info, carried out attacks on the LTTE leadership, often successfully. LTTE was so dumb, they thought it was an internal struggle. I was questioned just 3 times. LTTE's intelligence as it turns out wasn't quite that sophisticated. They were more concerned about keeping their "status" in the organization than doing their jobs. Pottu Amman is a coward. He's a highly insecure individual who always thought fellow LTTE terrorists were out to get him. He spent of a lot of his time spying on his own people instead of us. But he did us a favor by successfully kicking out Karuna. Karuna is a brilliant commander. If Karuna was around we'd still be struggling to capture land.

Well... it is almost time for LIGHTS OUT for you terrorists! Sleep tight. Sweet dreams.

Anonymous said...

Good try Badri.
You mean to say LTTE spent so much on their airforce and decided to let it go just like that to get attention.Dont you think your logic is completely flawed.
As you say,if it was intended as a suicide mission, then it was a complete failure as the body of the LTTE pilot remained completely intact. We know what happens to suicide bomber and if the flight was laden with explosives as you claim, then nothing would remain of the corpse. But this intact body shows your claims are false.
But I seriously suspect VP is out of Srilanka since yesterday night. The radar's detected 3 flights and only 2 have been accounted for.The 3rd one never flew over Colombo. So has he escaped leaving the innocents to die.Thats tragic and so undeserving of your so called National leader - a leader who runs for his life leaving his people to die

Dear Badri... Now with these 2 planes achieving ealam (with the pilots on board).. U have lost the whole TAF.
With the loss of Chalai, you have lost the Sea Tigers as well (I heard that most of the heave weapons on the boats have been removed and are now fixed on to double cabs)

So from a force which had a Navy, an Air Force, courts, police stations, International Coordination centers etc, and in control of almost 1/3 of the country, now the LTTE has progressed to a state where there is no air force, no navy, no police, no courts and only <100 Sq.Km of land.....

SO Badri(one of the Intelligent tamils)..To what do you attribute this success of the LTTE? Its leadership, its donors or its adversaries?

As Badri is adamant that Sinhalese are stupid, I'm sure he'll attribute these to acts of god!

To Malindra who said: "Can work together with Karuna's and Pilliyan's people"

Karuna and Pillaiyan are both traitors to the Tamils. Other politicians who were against the LTTE all along may be acceptable to some Tamils, but those who fought on the side of LTTE and then went against them for money will not be accepted by anyone.

Today Karuna and Pillaiyan are killing Tamils in abductions who used to feed them and take care of them. Even if you honestly broke away from LTTE (which he didn't), you could never kill people who had risked their lives to help you.

Karuna and Pillaiyan are the scum of the earth, and no Tamil will accept them. If they actually are forced to lay down arms, they will be in a terrible situation. They can't even run away to London, as people would find them there as well.

Anonymous said...

Hey Badri,
You're talking of something which has no relevance at all to your post (which is about an air attack which you claim to be successful)
I understand your pain. So here's postive spin for you to put in to this LTTE mission.

1. Fearing a LTTE attack all airforce jets were taken out of katunayake airport and parked in a nearby paddy field. Super intelligent LTTE air wing knew this advance so that suicide mission was targeted to this paddy field!!

2. Knowing LTTE is coming to attack them Sighala moodayas of airforce HQ got scared and sought shelter at the inland revenue building. Super LTTE fighter jet pilot observed this through his ultra super vision and attacked the inland revenue building as this became the most valuable target since all the SL airmen were hiding there.

So...Super LTTE won and moda Sighalayas lost again!!!

OK I would agree the first one was indeed a suicide attack. It attacked the strategically most important IR dept and killed 2 civilians and injured 50+ causing a devastating blow to the economy. But what was the purpose of the second Suicide attack on the marshy land? Wipe out the fish and cause economic hardships to the handful of few people who catch fish in that area?

Pro LTTE-guys and girls, we KNOW how deeply saddened you are about the plight of the civilians. We also know that your number one worry is the civilians (not the protection of the fat pig and his other big cohorts)

The only reason why you are not pressurizing LTTE to let them go is because, all civilians are staying in the area are doing so voluntarily...
