Defence.lk is 41% more lethal than Army.lk; writers deserve promotion

By Shankar Neelan

We have taken the last two months worth of battle reports from both Army.lk and Defence.lk (both official government websites) and compiled the daily battle reports into a chart for comparison. What we find is quite shocking. There is absolutely no relationship between the reports from the two websites. Some days Defence.lk reports 30 LTTE fighters killed, but army.lk reports only 2 killed. There are spans of an entire week where army.lk reports extremely low casualties, but defence.lk reports daily 20 to 30 LTTE fighters killed, mostly "sniped". What this shows is the two websites are filled with reports written by creative writers, who obviously don't compare notes between each other's stories. In fact Defence.lk has managed to net-kill 41% more LTTE fighters than Army.lk:

One of the most humorous aspects of the Defence.lk writer's style is the repetitive use of the word "sniped" to net-kill mass numbers of LTTE fighters. After going through every report over the last two months I found Army.lk has never reported a single LTTE fighter having been killed by a sniper. In every single Army.lk report the LTTE suffers "heavy casualties" due to close quarters combat. But in every single Defence.lk report, the report always concludes with at least 5 or 10 LTTE fighters being "sniped" from long range. On one day the writer became a little too excited and he sniped 30 fighters at one go. What this shows is its simply two seperate people making up stories, and their story patterns remain repetitive because its the same person writing every day. They don't have the intelligence to make up new stories each day, or even to match their stories with their other website writers.

What we find in the analysis is that the Defence.lk writers are in a competition to "outdo" the Army.lk writers, to prove that they are doing a better job then the others, and really deserve that promotion they have been asking for. In the past we have shown how the Defence.lk writers went so far as to create fake photographs, and to photoshop pictures to create false stories. Now we have conclusive proof that every single story is just a creative writing assignment, with numbers pulled out of their ass. How else can you explain that over a period of 2 months there are only 3 days where the casualty figures match between Army.lk and Defence.lk. The numbers are so far off that there isn't even a slight resemblance between the two.

In conclusion I would like to point out that the Defence.lk writers deserve special recognition for their accomplishments. Over the sample period of 2 months they have proven to be 41% more lethal then their top competitor - having net-killed a whopping 1174 LTTE fighters, compared to Army.lk's meagre 835 fighters. Thats a 339 kill improvement, while maintaining the same basic costs. In the present times of economic struggle, with the Sri Lankan government "dusting off the begging bowl" to get a 4 billion dollar IMF loan, I think we need to encourage as much efficiency in government as possible. The defence.lk writers have proven themselves, that they are the most efficient and lethal net-writers out there. In fact, I feel their accomplishments are so spectacular, we should even consider replacing Army.lk with a Defence-2.lk. Imagine if we could have two defence websites, each with a 41% improved lethality rate. That would result in the Sri Lankan government killing 82% more LTTE fighters for the same cost. That is called using intelligence to rise above the economic downturn - thinking out of the box. Who's the modaya now?

Here is info on the SL economy front:
http://www.sundaytimes.lk/090329/News/sundaytimesnews_21.html.

Currently only private sectors are laying off , next lay off is going to come from the public sector. If SL don't get IMF loan, that would be final nail on the terrorist SL government.

The terrorist SL has no option other than going for the ceasefire. The cease fire will drag on for months,. This will put the SL government in trap, they will not be able come out of this trap without dividing the country in to two.

300,000 lose their balls as economic crisis bites

By Nadia Fazlulhaq
More than 300,000 employees out of a total workforce of 6.1 million employed in the private sector have lost their jobs, with more than 50,000 being dismissed during the past three months, The Sunday Times learns.

The Inter Company Employees Union charged that more than 50 companies and factories have been closed due to the present crisis situation and that the Labour Ministry has done little to protect the employees who have lost their jobs.

President of the union Wasantha Samarasinghe said the situation would get worse in the following months and it would hit the service sector which has already implemented cost cutting measures including cut back in employment.

File photo: Workers at an apparel factory
He said despite a proposal to set up a fund under the ‘Termination of Employment of Workers Act’ four years ago, it was not implemented.

“The government should look into this matter as the private sector makes a large contribution to the productivity of the country” Palitha Atukorala, president of the Progressive Union said. He said cutting labour costs would have a negative impact on productivity.

“The garment industry is badly affected. It is unlikely we will receive GSP benefits. Buyers are also showing hesitancy towards placing orders. During the past few months more than 15,000 people lost their jobs in the garment industry alone. Most of them were labourers earning a minimum of Rs. 6,700,” he said.

He charged that the difference between salaries paid to senior management and the normal employees was astronomical and drained the viability of these companies.

Mr. Atukorala charged most factories gave holidays to workers, who return to find the factory closed. Many of these employers avoid paying compensation nor do they justify the closure of the factories.
He said of the 832 factories set up in 2004 only 403 were in operation by 2006.

The Sunday Times learns that a leading telecom service provider with around 4,000 employees has decided to lay off a number of employees at all levels including those at senior management level.
A senior official of the company said their call centre had been badly affected while senior staff live in fear of being laid off.

“Cutting down on senior personnel is considered the best means of cost cutting. The high salaries along with vehicle and fuel allowances are turning out to be too heavy a burden for many institutions,” he said.

Meanwhile The Commissioner General of the Department of Labour W.J.L.U. Wijayaweera told The Sunday Times it was impossible to establish a ‘safety net’ as stakeholders were unable to reach an agreement on a mutually acceptable contribution to the fund.

“Employers and employees were not willing to contribute to a fund that would benefit employees if their services were to be terminated for non-disciplinary reasons. The Labour Ministry wanted to establish this fund but it could not be at government expense,” he said.

He added most countries had adopted this type of scheme to meet the developing global crisis, but contributions were from the stakeholders.

He said certain employers did not abide by the law and closed their organizations within 24 hours which left employees helpless. As commissioner he could inquire into the matter under section 6 of the act.

Tiger propaganda spearheaded by tamilnet, claims every other day nearly 100 civilians die
in the no fire zone.
One of the primary reasons for this is to pre-empt any guided strikes by the SLAF on the remaining tiger bigwig hideout.
Not just to put pressure on the government and the international community.
If the SLAF have a clear target and the right munition they should make the strike after the best evaluation because
tiger propaganda already make believe to the western world that many people die each day.
Hope the forces will give precedence to hunting Pottu more than Vezupizzai.

UNHRC hops onboard Tamil Tigers’ bandwagon

Much of the fodder that the UN rights body offered as its own diligently cross-checked facts was the same self-serving pap the Tamil Tiger propaganda machine is spewing out on the Internet

ONE of the less appreciated side-effects for anyone dispatched to the tropics on United Nations related business is that the good life which comes with the job—with a fair share of it spent in the customary expatriate ritual of subjecting one’s body to the harsh rays of the sun while lazing by azure-hued swimming pools or golden sandy beaches—can result in the microwaving of the brain cells.

Similarly, over in Geneva, which serves as the capital of the UN’s humanitarian soul, a posting to a spacious corner suite of a chateau set amidst the picturesque alpine ambience (with the cool and invigorating air thrown in for free) must tend to get the brain cells functioning at the lower gauges of the thought meter.

This, perhaps, is the only plausible reason we can offer up in mitigation for the mind boggling (and diplomatically costly) faux pas made by the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) through its seemingly prickly boss Navaneetham Pillay.

Ensconced in salubrious Geneva and gasping for the oxygen of publicity for a body which has been severely discredited on many fronts globally as being inept and incompetent, Pillay claimed, rather wildly as it now transpires, that more than 2,800 innocent civilians had been killed and a further 7000 wounded in recent weeks in the ongoing fighting between the Sri Lankan forces and the Tamil Tigers—even though the facts on the battle ground, and the evidence from the hospitals that surround the battle zone, could prove otherwise.

And this is where our aforementioned theory that the agreeable weather in both Colombo (where the alleged figures emanated) and Geneva (whence they were disseminated by UNHRC carrier pigeons) must at times make rational thinking and attention to detail a tough option.

Needless to say, the Sri Lankan government is fiercely disputing the claims, and rightly so. What the UNHRC appears to have overlooked is the very salient fact that Sri Lanka is not at war with itself—as we discovered this past week while traveling around this stunningly beautiful island where smiles are very easily activated. Sinhalese (who make up a sizeable majority), Tamils, Muslims and a spattering of other ethic groups live alongside each other in perfect harmony. And the only time that social equilibrium is shattered is when the Tamil Tigers chose to do so with their bombs, bullets and suicide belts.

As the record now shows, much of the fodder that the UNHRC offered up as its own supposedly diligent “cross-checking of facts” was no more than the same self-serving pap that (sensing the end is nigh as it makes its last stand cornered in a rapidly diminishing 21 square kilometer patch of jungle) the now ignited Tamil Tiger propaganda machine is spewing out on the Internet.

What is an undisputed fact is the presence in the battlefield of several thousand innocent civilians, including women and children, held hostage there by the Tigers as a barbarically convenient human shield in order to secure a ceasefire and a desperately needed respite.

Meanwhile, unable to make a fight of it in the theatre of war, the Tigers are now dependent on their paymasters in the misguided (and extortion ridden) Tamil diaspora to do battle for them by taking to the streets of London, Ottawa, and Geneva and targeting the support of the local populace in the faint hope that enough voices will be mustered to force a UN or European Union mandated ceasefire.

Elsewhere, the Web based Tiger surrogates are also on fire. When we penned a recent column stating that Vellupillai Prabhakaran, the blood thirsty leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE), believes that the logic of survival was brutality, we were swamped with over 300 emails refuting our stand—one of which accused us of making the commandant of the Tigers “look like a devil when he is an angel!”

We will leave the LTTE apologists to agonize over the competing prospects of strumming a harp on a heavenly cloud, or being deep-fried in a furnace in hell.

Suffice it to say, that with the battle for a Tamil homeland, or Elam, now in near ashes, the war takes on a new phase by moving on to the media forum and cyberspace to secure (gullible?) hearts and minds to the cause on a universal theatre.

As of writing, Pillay—whose name, through no fault of her own, would resonate more comfortably in Southern India (where the Tamil Tigers still retain a fast fading support base) than Southern Sri Lanka—has stubbornly refused to back down from her stated case.

This despite the fact that the UN headquarters in New York issued a communiqué on the blistering controversy, which seemed to mildly imply that the UNHRC figures are at best questionable. Elsewhere at the UN in recent days influential voices have been raised against the inhuman tactics of the Tigers in the battleground. So at the Big Apple end at least they don’t want to be seen as cozying up to a terrorist outfit that is rotten to the core.

But Pillay’s unyielding stand is hardly surprising seeing as credibility (think Gaza, Darfur, Bosnia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Angola . . . need we go on?) is a commodity that deserted the corridors of the UNHRC decades ago.

COLOMBO: At least 46 Tamil Tigers, including women, were killed in fierce clashes with security forces who captured an earth bund built by the
rebels in Sri Lanka's embattled north, where an LTTE suicide bomber blew himself up fearing arrest by troops engaged in search operations.

A unit of troops under the command of Brigadier Prasanna Silva breached LTTE defence lines and gained control over the LTTE-built earth bund-cum-ditch in north of Palamathalan in Mullaittivu on Saturday, the Defence Ministry said on Sunday.

Unable to face the military offensive, LTTE fighters fled from the area, security sources said, adding at least eight rebels were killed and 17 others wounded in the fighting in Palamathalan on Saturday.

"LTTE is continuously mounting heavy artillery and mortar attacks from the government declared No Fire Zone and this has been the only response the losing rebels could give as they are avoiding direct engagement with military," the ministry said.

During subsequent search operations, troops found bodies of two LTTE rebels along with two T-56 assault rifles.

Troops, advancing further East from the LTTE bastion of Puthukkudiyirippu, seized a rebel supply route stretching towards Iranapalai after fierce fighting. The dominance by security forces over this vital stretch is expected to frustrate movement and logistic supplies of LTTE, the ministry quoted security sources as saying.

Sri Lanka has managed to counter heavy pro-LTTE lobbying as well as a two-pronged attempt by a few EU members to secure a statement in the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on the situation in Sri Lanka during the tenth session of the UN Human Rights Council which concluded its 4-week long session in Geneva on Friday, the Sri Lankan Mission in Geneva said in a statement.
The statement said that during the sessions, the Sri Lankan delegation successfully countered adverse references made to the Sri Lanka situation made by a few delegations representing certain developed Western countries and several non-governmental organizations, as well as by several pro-LTTE activists who were present at the UN, lobbying heavily against ongoing military operations in the Wanni. During both formal presentations and informal interactions, the Sri Lankan delegation clearly emphasized to other delegations that ongoing military operations were being carried out by the security forces in accordance with norms of International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and that such actions were necessary to eliminate terrorism and protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka.

During the Council Sessions, Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha, Secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights, successfully refuted many false and unsubstantiated allegations on Sri Lanka’s human rights and humanitarian situation, conveying Sri Lanka’s position through a number of statements, including rights of reply as appropriate, during the consideration of several agenda items, including the item that deals with human rights situations that require Council’s attention. He also addressed the Council during the interactive dialogues with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Special Rapporteurs on counter terrorism, torture, freedom of religion and belief, human rights defenders, Working Group on Disappearances, Special Representative of the UNSG on IDPs, and the Special Advisor on the prevention of genocide. Further exercising Sri Lanka’s right of reply under the agenda items dealing with human rights situations that require Council’s attention and with building and technical cooperation, Deputy Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda made several statements refuting many fabricated allegations on the current situation in Sri Lanka, the statement said.

Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe addressed the High Level Segment on the opening day of the Council on March 2 and conducted a series of bilateral, regional and cross regional consultations at Ministerial level. The Minister and the Sri Lankan delegation also briefed Members on the humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka and presented the Common Humanitarian Action Plan on Sri Lanka, during a Member States Briefing organized by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, and attended by a large number of States, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations and INGOs, the statement said.

The day after the LTTE announces they destroyed 2 Sri Lankan battle tanks, the Sri Lankan army shows footage of a destroyed tank in THEIR OWN territory, and says its an LTTE tank. Do you think the LTTE drove their battle tank all the way into government territory? In the past the LTTE has always used their battle tanks several kilometers from the front lines, fired a few shots and then retreated. To think they finally decided to drive straight into the enemy territory is ridiculous.

The Sri Lankan army lost two battle tanks, and then decided to film it claiming that it was an LTTE battle tank.

Sharp fall in Sri Lanka tea exports
Mar 5, 2009

COLOMBO (AFP) — Sri Lanka, one of the world's biggest tea exporters, registered a 30 percent drop in overseas sales in January because of a decline in the crop, the Sri Lanka Tea Board said on Thursday.

Sales from tea shipments fell to 6.9 billion rupees (61.37 million dollars) in January, compared to 9.8 billion rupees in the same period a year earlier, official figures showed.

Volumes of tea exports also fell 25 percent to 17.76 million kilograms (39.07 million pounds) in January, over the same month in 2008, the board said.

"We are reeling from twin effects of lower rainfall and a deliberate effort to curtail our own production. This has hit our exports in terms of volumes and earnings," Tea Board chairman Lalith Hettiarachchi told AFP.

Russia and former Soviet republics are the largest markets for Sri Lankan tea, accounting for nearly a fifth of total exports, followed by the Middle East and North Africa.

Sri Lanka benefited from the global commodity boom in early 2008, with export earnings hitting a record 1.23 billion dollars for the full year, up from 1.02 billion dollars in 2007.

Tea output also hit a record 318.47 million kilos, up from 305.2 million kilos produced in 2007.

However, with the onset of the global economic meltdown, prices have collapsed to an average of 2.65 dollars a kilo (1.20 dollars a pound) from record highs of 4.26 dollars a kilo between January and September last year.

Growers have also curbed output at the request of the Tea Board to manage high production costs and maintain quality.

The first signs of a drop in the crop were seen in December when output fell by a third to 19.9 million kilos from 29.5 million kilos in the same month a year earlier, Hettiarachchi said.

He expects production to slow down to just over 300 million kilos this year, partly due to high labour and fertiliser prices.

Not true as far as I have heard. When they say reached the no fire zone, what they mean is they are across the lagoon. The entire no fire zone is surrounded by water on every side with only bridges leading into it. It will be difficult for Sri Lankan army to enter it so quickly.

Prof Navindran's "Model Economy" country Singapore in trouble!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7949794.stm

Quotes from above:
"Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong has warned that his country faces its worst economic crisis since World War II.

Exports from Singapore are falling at their fastest rate since records began, down 24% last month on 2008 figures, and down 35% in January."

"Worst in decades

Trade has driven Singapore's economy throughout its 200 years of existence.

And, says Mr Lee, even record levels of government spending cannot stop the island state sliding into its worst recession in decades.

"Well we're going to have very negative growth this year," Mr Lee said. "

"But perhaps the biggest question hanging over Singapore is what the impact record levels of local unemployment will have on the government's popularity.

There is no political opposition to speak of, and public demonstrations are banned, but people may find other ways to express their discontent if this recession proves to be a prolonged one. "

Ha ha! Where are those Tamil financial experts Navindran has been quoting all the time??

IF WE ALSO BAN PUBLIC DEMONSTRATIONS AND POLITICAL OPPOSITION, WE CAN DO 100 TIMES BETTER THAN SINGAPORE!
NAVINDRAN, TAKE NOTE!

By the weekend, two military Divisions had laid siege to the LTTE held pocket in the coastal stretch. Guerrillas fighting to hold onto shrinking land were offering last ditch resistance. The deflating numbers of cadres already have a toll on the guerrillas, whose resistance is becoming uncoordinated most of the time during the past week, but, on Wednesday, the LTTE launched another ambitious counter attack against the 58 Division operating ahead of Iranapalai junction.
Is the LTTE prepared to risk annihilation? That is not a sane decision under any military theory, but all indications point to that direction. It would not be long before the guerrillas would lose the remnant ground. Some units attached to the 58 Division are operating a mere 400 meters from the boundaries of the No Fire Zone. The 55 Division which is advancing southward is two km from the northern edge of the No Fire Zone. Troops of this division had overrun three earth bunds of guerrillas since they crossed the Nanthikadal lagoon and were positioned near the fourth bund by the weekend. This is where the bitter fighting is expected to flare up between the advancing troops and the defending guerrillas who have lost much of the land in the southern front to the 58 Division, which had prompted it to relocate its long range guns and operational centers to the No Fire Zone. Aerial pictures taken by the Air Force reconnaissance planes have revealed the ammunition dumps, bunkers and some of the vehicles mounted with heavy weapons located inside the No Fire Zone.

Fleeing civilians

Military officials citing information from fleeing civilians claim that the Tiger chieftain Velupillai Prabhakaran and his son Charles Anthony have moved to the “No Fire Zone.”
The Surface to Air Missile attacks directed at the two Bell 212 helicopters engaged in the evacuation of wounded soldiers are believed to be launched by the cadres of the Ratha regiment providing security for Prabhakaran. The two missiles where launched from the “No Fire Zone”, however the counter missile systems were activated saving the troops onboard.
Though its strike capabilities are gradually diminishing, largely due to the shortage of trained fighters, the LTTE launched a major counter attack on Wednesday.

Tiger leaders

An estimated 300 Tiger cadres launched an attack on the troops of the 7 Singha Regiment and 20 Gajaba Regiment. Tiger leaders, Banu and Lawrence had led the attack. The Seven Singha regiment pulled back 500 meters. General Officer Commander of the 58 Division, Brigadier Shavindra Silva was on leave at the time of the attack. He flew back to his Division next day afternoon to direct military operations. The LTTE strategy had been to break through the defence line manned by the 7 Singha Regiment. Additional troops were dispatched to reinforce the defence line. Newly dispatched troops beefed up the second and third defence lines, which meant that the guerrillas who would break through the forward defence lines would march into a virtual ambush. Commandos and Special Forces were dispatched to support the troops while infantry troops of 20 Gajaba Regiment were assigned to cut off the road which could be used to send in reinforcement.
By the afternoon of Wednesday, troops succeeded repulsing the attack, but in the evening, Tigers attacked the troops of the 20 Gajaba Regiment. Four waves of the guerrillas tried to storm the newly consolidated positions. Main Battle Tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicles targeted two cabs fitted with heavy weapons. The Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Sri Lanka army is now fulfilling its mission. The high mobility of the troops since the collapse of the northern front of the LTTE is largely attributed to the Mechanized Infantry, of which the main objective was to address the disadvantages stemming from the lack of mobility of the conventional infantry troops. While the Infantry Fighting Vehicles and Main Battle Tanks are regularly used to provide fire support to the troops, the Mechanised Infantry Brigade has extensively been used in combat in the open land when the troops are faced with stiffer resistance.

Guerrilla warfare

However, as things stand now, the LTTE would like to revert to guerrilla warfare in the coming months. However, the success of the LTTE in guerrilla strategy is largely dependent on its ability to infiltrate the security forces defence lines in order to retreat into the Iranamadu jungles. Should the guerrillas succeed in retreating to the jungles in large numbers, the security forces would be compelled to deploy a large number of special forces in the search operations. Any large scale guerrilla infiltration would complicate the second phase of the government’s overall strategy related to the North East. This has compelled the troops to beef up secondary defence lines and engage in regular search operations and deploy ambush teams targeting possible guerrilla infiltrators.

Retreat

What the Tigers could achieve through retreat to the jungles was evident last week.
Five paddy farmers were killed and 2 wounded by a group of LTTE cadres in Dehiwatte, a remote village in Serunuwara, Kanthalai on Tuesday. Tigers abducted seven farmers and shot them at point blank range, killing five and wounding two others.
Four other farmers were killed the next day in the same manner. Four farmers who escaped with gunshot injuries are now receiving treatment at the Government Hospital at Polonnaruwa, Welikanda Police said. On Friday, Serunuwara poice said it had arrested two suspects believed to the members of the guerrillas responsible for last week’s killings. The two men were carrying four hand grenades and a shot gun, police said. It is not clear whether the guerrilla infiltrators were part of fresh infiltration from the Wanni or the remnant of the groups of Tigers who operated from Kanchikudichchiaru jungles.

Being several km from the front line means, no fire zone. Thats how much territory LTTE has got now.
Also is there any point using battle tanks so far behind the front line.
Idiots.

Prof. Navindran,
Job cuts are happening in US & Eueope as well. Probably a genocide going on there as well!!!

EU, U.S. Joblessness to Reach 10% This Year, OECD’s Gurria Says

March 30 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. and European Union unemployment will reach 10 percent this year as the global economic slump causes the economies of the 30-member Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to contract, Secretary General Angel Gurria said.

“This is unprecedented; we have not seen this in many decades,” Gurria said in a television interview in Rome.

The OECD will release its latest forecasts on March 31 and will predict a contraction of 4.2 percent to 4.3 percent for the world’s most industrialized countries, Gurria said. That compares with its previous forecast in November for a 0.3 percent contraction. The deepening global recession means that countries need to do more to lift their economies out of the economic slump he said.

“A modest stimulus package is not enough, because the downturn, the recession was a lot deeper and lending a lot harder than we thought; so we need more to get out of the recession,” he said.

Leaders of the G-20 nations will meet in London, April 2 to try to forge a common response to the crisis. U.S. calls for European nations to spend more on stimulus plans to try to limit the effects of the slowdown have been met with some resistance by government’s that have spent years trying to tame their budget deficits.

‘Pushing Hard’

“Some countries, like the U.S., are pushing hard, because they are making very big efforts; the Chinese are making very big efforts,” Gurria said. “They can’t carry everybody on their shoulders; they need everybody else to do this, and the rest of the world has different capacities to have this fiscal expansion.”

Gurria said that the G-20 will also need to consider stepped-up regulation of financial markets and adopt other measures to restore confidence in and among the world’s banks to get lending going again.

“This is the real objective,” he said. “So you have to give confidence, you have to give guarantees, you have to separate bad assets and good assets, you have to recapitalize the banks. All that, in a context of a new regulatory world, in order for the banks to lend again.”

If these countries go down from Everest peak, the people will not suffer when compared to the Shit Lanka sliding further down from a Shit hole to Shit-hell!

If Shit Lanka to be fixed, we MUST go back to pre-1948 arrangement, i.e. British ruling and Tamils administering in order re-surrect the Ceylon!

If modayas want to know how Tamils will run a country, no need to look anywhere ... just look back at Ceylon and how it was managed by the Tamils & British to be the everest of the asia! Singapore's Prime Minister in 1965 said, "I wanted to make Singapore like Ceylon" and the same person in 1990 said, "We do not want to become a Sri Lanka".

yeap ... this shit lanak country is beating the shit out of the LTTE for the last 30 years and would continue to do forever (but i doubt that this is going to last more than a few months becoz the time for the shit lanka to be broken as Shit Lanka and Heavenly Eelam is very near). The quality of real shit + modayaness is very clear becoz impossible to beat the shit out of LTTE even with the support of the whole world ... now can you imagine how shit and stupid this shit lankans are :-)

Badri,
What's your take on the news that the GOSL might declare a unilateral ceasfire once all land except for no firs zone is captured and invite international community for the evacuation?
Personally I think this is good news for trapped civilians. It's high time that LTTE accept their defeat and try to minimize civilian casualties.

[Personally I think this is good news for trapped civilians. It's high time that LTTE accept their defeat and try to minimize civilian casualties.]

I hope so too brother. I don't expect donkeys like Badri and Bhairav to share that sentiment though. They will be happy that there are enough civilians for the LTTE leadership to hide among. What a bunch of cowards the 'sole representatvies' have become.. shooting at people who try to escape!

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

Don't expect a ceasefire:

[The Government will not go in for any ceasefire with the LTTE under any circumstances, President Mahinda Rajapaksa told the UPFA Kalutara District United People’s Freedom Alliance organizers this morning.

"We will not cave into pressures from any international quarters locally and internationally and will not stop until the war was completely over," he said.]

Even if a cease fire is called now for 2 days, do you think the LTTE has sacrificed so much for the last 3 months to give up now? If they planned to surrender they could have done it much before.

Unknown said...

Badri,
I don't think there's anything left to be 'given up' as far as the Eelam struggle is concerned. The acid test is whether the LTTE is ready to act in a way that would safeguard the civilians, of whose sole representatives they claim to be. Personally I don't think the LTTE will have that sense of sympathy towards civilians. My worst fear is they will take the stand of 'we faught for you, so you die with us' as far as the trapped civilians are concerned.

The immediate action needed is allow independent media into Vanni and see what really happening.

Right now total black out of all news from Vanni by Rajapaksa regime,

According to GoSL, the latest victim, Ilanthirayan, former military spokesman of LTTE, has become net-defection.

Comments of Vannian assume the entire international community is foolish, which is clearly not the case. Since sidelining (and ultimately death) of Mr. Balasingham the LTTE functioned without any strategic direction based on this fallacy (only LTTE is smart and all others are fools). Many of the diaspora who comment here seem to entertain this fallacy as well.
The battle was lost during the ceasfire where the world community got convinced that LTTE is not interested in peace. When money is collected in western countires for 'final war' while peace process was in progress can we expect intelligence services of those countries not to take note of it?
Now the IC is resolved that LTTE should be gone (in essence if not in name) for there to be lasting peace and that's the truth.
The Tamil community would do well to think of how to postion itself in a post-LTTE era to further its rights.

Bhairav said...

It is a fact that the entire international community doesn't care what Rajapaksa does. Foolishness is a much more developed stage where you are mislead. But in order to be mislead you have to first care and take interest in a problem. The IC just doesn't care one way or the other, so they are not even at the stage to be mislead.

Unknown said...

Well, my point is what have the LTTE (or more importantly Tamils) got by preparing for the 'final war'.
When you're the underdog you can not pretend and act like the big bully (Just because LTTE can bully innocent civilians, it can't do the same to international community)

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

You can check back in 20 years and you will find the eelam struggle still going on. Those that think it is over are either on government payroll or believers in government propaganda.

The east has been liberated for years but every day there are attacks. Are the people living in east any better off than those who were living in Vanni under LTTE before the war? In fact they are in a much worse situation where they fear for their lives because the government is ran by drug addicts and criminals.

Eelam Tamil said...

Rajan must be either a victim of Rajapakse regime's propaganda and psychological operations or he is a goon in Rajapaksa regime to comment the above.

The reason Why the Government vehemently denying independent journalists to the battle front and the systematic intimidation, abduction and killing of many journalists who tried to expose what is happening there.

If the truth is out Rajapaksa regime will not survive for a minute.

The Sinhelease leaders always prioritized hiding the truth from International community. This is been done very cunningly by the ruling Sinhella regimes.

Hind sight is 20/20. Now it is easy for you to sit comfortably in your foreign residence and complain that the LTTE made bad decisions. 10 years ago when the LTTE routed the entire Sri Lankan military what were you saying? No one could have predicted 6 countries would supply, arm and train the Sri Lankan army. No one could have predicted the Sri Lankan army would kill civilians to hurt the LTTE. No one could have predicted tat the Tsunami would hurt the LTTE the way it did. Its easy to look back and point out the mistakes of the martyrs who gave up their lives for you, but back then you couldn't predict anything. So crawl back to your modaya hole and have some respect for those who sacrificed for your people.

If the government is smart enough to pay off all the newspapers and kill the reporters who write against them, they are obviously smart enough to hire people like Mr. "Rajan" Perera to engage in propaganda work agaist the Tamils.

It's clear how LTTE detroyed the true Tamil struggle through intolerance, tunnel vision, and failure to comprehend counter arguements. These weakneses are well and alive within the diaspora Tamils who comment here. You can live in your fantasy worlds and continue to reject the reality, but it will not change the ground reality.
Luckily majority of Tamils, including the diaspora do not belong to your category. I hope these people will get together and find viable alternatives for the Tamils.

95% of Tamil diaspora directly support LTTE. Only people like Mr. "Rajan" Perera say diaspora is against LTTE.

GOV BEGGING TO TAMIL DIASPORAS

Welcoming the Sri Dr. Palitha KohonaLankan Tamil diasporas other day at the Mt. Lavania Hotel, Dr. Palith Kohona said, "As the LTTE's delusion, fades into history, the Government is rightly calling on our Tamil brothers and sisters living overseas to return to the warm embrace of mother Lanka and seek a common future with all her other children, whether they be Muslims, Sinhalese, Mukkuvars, Malays, Burghers, etc.

Secretary to Foreign Affairs emphasized, "Today we see the beginning of this. Each of you gathered here today represent diverse backgrounds and has enormous individual potential. Therefore it is the wish of the Government to seek your cooperation in the realization of its ambitious goals."

U ARE CALLING TAMILS BACK TO GIVE THEM WHITE VAN RIDE..

NO THANKS...

GO CALL SINHALA PATRIOT BACK..HAHAHA

EVEN UR EXCEPTED FUNDING FROM THOSE PATRIOTS FAILED...

Since some of the fellow diaspora brothers accuse me of 'disrupting' things, may I have the liberty of asking exactly what am I 'disrupting'?

1. Am I disrupting the Tamil struggle for freedom? (Do you really think that trapped civilians or under-aged forced recruits log online and check these comments for moral support?)

2. Or am I disrupting your hallucinated fantasies? (In that case isn't it time you get a reality check anyway?)

BTW, for the brother who commented that LTTE has 95% diaspora support: The only leaders who got 90+% approval ratings were Hitler and Saddam Hussain. And the whole world (especially the west) know that very well. So next time when you 'invent' your numbers you may wanna temper it down a little bit to atleast give a superficial sense of credibility.

I am a proud Tamil. At the same time I am ashamed of some of us who think we can do no better than latch into a terror outfit to give us our freedom.

I was reading especially Badrinath's & Navindran's comments.

I laugh & sometimes I also feel sorry for them. They are trying their best to say that SLGO is loosing the war to satisfy LTTE supporters.

The whole world (including LTTE supporters) know that LTTE is on the verge of defeat. The difference is LTTE suppoertes like Badrinath, Navindran & Peter etc do not believe it.

I would suggest Badri to discuss how we can solve Tamils problem within Sri Lanka rather than wasting time in discussing about the war any more.

Sangakkara desperate for normality again

Alex Brown

March 27, 2009

'But the opportunity to again feel some normalcy will be nice, and I know there is excitement here from the guys who are going to the IPL' © AFP

The healing continues. After a painful month of reflection and rehabilitation, Sri Lanka's cricketers are excitedly awaiting the commencement of the IPL, and the opportunity to restore a degree of normalcy to lives upturned by the Lahore terror attacks.

Since returning home to Sri Lanka on March 3, just hours after gunmen had opened fire on their bus outside Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, the Sri Lankans have spent much of their time recovering from wounds both physical and emotional. The visible signs of the attack are beginning to fade - Thilan Samaraweera was the last of the players to be discharged from hospital last week - but the psychological scars will take far longer to mend.

The IPL, Kumar Sangakkara argues, represents an important step in the recovery process. When Sri Lanka's IPL-contracted cricketers board a plane to South Africa in the coming weeks - the first time many of them will have left home since arriving from Pakistan - Sangakkara believe the familiar routine of life on the professional cricketing circuit will prove comforting after this darkest of months.

"It has been a difficult few weeks for all of us," said Sangakkara, who scored 320 runs for the King's XI Punjab in last year's IPL. "Most of us are ready and looking forward to returning to cricket. The memories of what happened will last a long time, but with cricket comes a sense of normalcy and that old feeling of going out and doing your job. It will be nice to go abroad again and fully integrate with the cricket fraternity and get back to our daily routine.

"It has not been easy for us to deal with the events of Lahore. We are coming to terms with what happened, and it might take longer for some than others. The memories will never entirely go away. But the opportunity to again feel some normalcy will be nice, and I know there is excitement here from the guys who are going to the IPL."

The majority of Sri Lanka's cricketers have returned to the field in the past week to participate in the island's inter-provincial Twenty20 competition; an ideal warm-up for the IPL. Sangakkara has played for Kandurata, while Ajantha Mendis, who recently extended his contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders, has resumed his wizardry with Wayamba.

Mendis' bid to play in the IPL is nothing short of remarkable. Barely two weeks ago, the 24-year-old was recovering in hospital after surgery to remove shrapnel from his head and back - a procedure that required 17 stitches. On Thursday, he was back on the field and immediately in the wickets, helping steer Wayamba to victory over the Schools Invitational XI.

"I am committed to playing in the IPL and I want to be match fit," Mends said through his agent, Roshan Abeysinghe. "It has been a very difficult time. There has been a lot of pain. But it is nice to be back on the field again and I am looking forward to soon joining my franchise in South Africa."

Kolkata to announce captain and squad in South Africa

Kolkata Knight Riders will announce their captain and squad for the IPL's second season in South Africa and not in India.

"I don't want to disclose the names of the players who would be going to South Africa now as we want to keep all options open," Joy Bhattacharya, Kolkata's team director, said after the conclusion of a six-day training camp at the Eden Gardens. "We might take the whole squad which took part in the conditioning camp to South Africa. Nothing has been finalised right now. The final team for KKR would be announced in South Africa."

John Buchanan, Kolkata's director of cricket operations, had already sparked speculation with his revolutionary theory of doing away with a fixed captain and instead have four or five leaders through the tournament. Kolkata had been led in the first season by their 'icon' player, Sourav Ganguly, who is not fully convinced by Buchanan's multiple-captain theory.

Kolkata's players will leave for Bloemfontein in batches, with the first lot flying out on Tuesday evening for the tournament which kicks off on April 18. Ganguly is expected to leave for South Africa on April 5.

Rajasthan Royals to face Cobras ahead of IPL

Cricinfo staff

March 30, 2009

The Rajasthan Royals, winners of the inaugural IPL, will take on the Cobras, champions of South Africa's Pro20 series this season, in two Twenty20 matches ahead of the second season of the IPL. The two games are scheduled for April 11 and 12 and have been billed as the "Clash of Champions".

The Cobras have a strong line-up with several players with international experience, including Herschelle Gibbs, JP Duminy, Charl Langeveldt, Justin Ontong and Monde Zondeki.

Rajasthan will make Cape Town their base during the run-up to the IPL's second season, which runs from April 18 to May 24, following a strategic partnership with the Cobras and Western Province Cricket association, owners of the Newlands Stadium.

"We are delighted to be working with the Cobras at Newlands during our IPL tournament preparation. It's a great venue, and the "Clash of the Champions" over the Easter weekend will be an exciting contest," Manoj Badale, chairman and co-owner of Rajasthan, said. "It is the first time the Royals have played since winning the IPL tournament and it will be great to see the team back in action."

Both teams have also agreed to work together on future cricketing and sponsorship opportunities to further sporting links between India and South Africa. In addition to the two matches, the partnership will also include player exchange to develop young talent.

Sangakkara open to 'maverick idea'

Ajay S Shankar

March 28, 2009

Kumar Sangakkara: "If it's a way to go forward and it shows results, why not?" © AFP

Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara believes John Buchanan's idea of having multiple captains in a team is an interesting concept that opens endless possibilities for the game's future. Sangakkara said that Twenty20, which he called cricket's maverick form, was a good testing ground for such "maverick ideas", which need to be tried and tested for the game to evolve.

Sangakkara, who will be making his debut as the full-time captain of Sri Lanka during the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in June, said he understands Buchanan's concept because he believes that leadership is always situational. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman's endorsement comes with a few lines of caution attached: a lot depends on team communication; it works better for a franchise rather than a national team; and hopefully, it's not a marketing gimmick by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of April's IPL.

Asked whether he endorsed the multi-captain experiment, Sangakkara told Cricinfo: "If it's a way to go forward and it shows results, why not? Everyone is looking for the edge to win. If this is going to provide them that in the future, then it's well and good."

Buchanan, the former Australia coach, had publicly unveiled the concept last week in Kolkata to spark a furious debate in India, where fans fear that the power of Sourav Ganguly, the popular Kolkata captain, may be diluted. Buchanan has shortlisted Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, David Hussey and Brad Hodge to share the captaincy role with Ganguly.

Sangakkara said the thought matched his own about captaincy. "I believe that leadership is always situational," he said. "It's a very interesting concept, and I think it's all about using the best man for a specific situation. It will be tried and tested, and then you'll find that some people are better at ensuring that bowlers are changed correctly, and someone might be good for field settings."

According to Sangakkara, Buchanan's concept is not new in international sport, either. "Cricket is evolving," he said. "In American football, you have an offense and defense, a defensive coach and an offensive coach. And cricket, going forward, might have to look at itself differently. Things like fielding captains and bowling captains are experimental tactics where teams are trying to find the best way forward in Twenty20."

The Sri Lankan veteran went to say that the basic thought behind this idea has been employed by his national team for many years now. "The traditional idea of one captain doing all the work is never really true," he said. "In Sri Lankan cricket, at different times and difficult times, different people step up to lead the side. Also, we've always encouraged a team of leaders who are independent thinkers and who are not afraid to contribute ideas and information on and off the field. That feeding of information, as long as the captain has a clear idea of what to choose and what not to, has been the way we've been trying to nurture our cricketers. So the concept of having many leaders, many thinkers and so-called many captains has already been working in our side for a long time."

But the pitfalls that await such a revolutionary concept, Sangakkara said, are many: there could be a clash of egos on the field or as Mickey Arthur, the South Africa coach, pointed out, players may get confused over whom to turn to.

"If you have two or three captains operating at the same time on the field with the same players, you can have temperaments clashing, ideas clashing, and there could be an overload of information," Sangakkara said. "The players themselves may not know who to turn to or listen to for guidance in the end. So you see a potential for confusion."

The other concern, he said, was the thought that Buchanan's concept - and the controversy it has generated - could just be a PR exercise with just 22 days to go for the second season of the IPL. "Hopefully, it is not a marketing gimmick," Sangakkara said. "Something to create more interest towards that one franchise, and to get the public to say, 'Well, we'll follow the Kolkata Knight Riders from here on'."

Sangakkara, of course, will get a first-hand feel of the multi-captain concept when his IPL team, Kings XI Punjab, take on Buchanan's Knight Riders on April 21 in Durban and May 3 in Port Elizabeth. Asked whether he would implement the idea - if it worked at the IPL - for the Sri Lanka team for the Twenty20 World Cup, Sangakkara said he would have to think hard about it.

"When you play for a franchise, it's completely different from playing for a national team," he said. "You play with highly experienced international players; you play with top quality players in the national side as well but the feeling of 'team' here is different. We'll have to wait and see how it works in multi-international teams as opposed to one national team."

Finally though, Sangakkara said, he firmly believed that the multi-captain idea needs to be given a good run before a judgment is passed. "Ideas like this which seem radical and progressive should be given a good run, and we should see how they come off," he said. "If it comes off well, it'll be a great innovation. If it doesn't, it might look a bit stupid. Either way, it'll be an interesting time for cricket."

Great work man. Good analysis. I think u can improve this mentioning the count of dead civilians in the safe zone each day. Can u put a row with the real LTTE death count for each day. I think u may know the real LTTE dead count. We never seen that in tamilnut publishing those figures. Then your analysis is full complete. And all can get true values and variances.

You can update this table and enjoy with your friends for another few days. After that it’s going to be zero all the rows. Because, no one left in safe zone to die here after.

You can do another analysis using the people who came to government control area.
I think that also very wrong. Because, earlier LTTE supporters talking about 250,000 civilians are in the safe zone. Now talking about 300,000 and today I saw it’s increased to 330,000. That also good trend. Can u please do a analysis for this and explain how this happen ? if SLA shelling and keep killing people everyday and if people are coming to government control area how this population is increasing in safe zone this much fast. That’s amazing. Everybody is waiting to see that peelam’s new technology of increasing population.

Do not waste time analyzing Defence.lk and Army.lk reports looking for discrepancies of "snipe" and petty things. We kill LTTE at a handsome rate daily and you know that and whole world knows that. That is an undeniable truth, VP and the gang is running shitting in their pants and peeing in their legs. Game over, unless you want to join LTTE rank and file at this 1ith hour rtaher than writing bulshit. I do not think so. Your investment for a vacation paradise with a dream International air port in Palaly at the expense of poor Tamil youth in North-East as pawns is in vain. Only beneficiaries are the Madhwathini, Dawrka and VP Junior not Charles Anthony ( Mahattya's son) with a fat bank account . Thanks to you stupid diaspora.
