Rumors the Sri Lankan military used chemical weapons

There have been rumors going around that the Sri Lankan military used chemical weapons yesterday in its battle against the LTTE. We do not have proof one way or the other, but two odd points cast doubts on the government. For the first time ever, pictures of the dead LTTE bodies have unusual burn wounds and skin peeling off in many places. In the past the bodies have never had such wounds. Secondly, the Sri Lankan military has blurred out parts of the dead fighters' bodies, most commonly the face (but many faces are also left unblured, so they are not trying to hide the person's identity). There are no signs of blood in the blured out area, so the only logical conclusion is that they want to hide the oddly peeled and burnt skin, which would be most visible on the exposed face. Below are a few examples of these wounds:

In the photo above, why is his chest blurred out? There is no sign of a bullet wound, but you can see a rash or burn around his neck and the blurred area, plus his skin is peeling off on many places.

Why did the Sri Lankan government blur out the faces in the top row, but not the faces below:

What are they trying to hide by blurring out the faces? There are no signs of bullet wounds there, and they obviously aren't hiding their identity, because other faces are being shown. It is possible they are trying to cover up signs of peeling and burnt skin, which would be most visible on the exposed faces.

As our sinhalese friends wanted,

we do not want Eelam in Srilanka.

Let Eelam be in Eelam but

we will not allow srilanka in Eelam.

Let srilanka be for sinhalese and let Eelam & srilanka be good neighbours atleast in future.

FF[Also british always favourd the tamils]

This is what would have happened in India today if there was no partition during independence. British are responsibile for Tamils predicament, for not partitioning Lanka during independence. The 2 communities cant live in peace, similar to India and Pakistan, there has to be 2 separate countries and British must take the moral/political responsibility for making the blunder in Lanka thus causing immense hardship upon Tamils.

This just shows that srilanka is just a puppet in the Indian hands.

So much for their brave talk of not succumbing to 'outside pressures'.

Why Gotbaya is not telling India to mind its own business?

This war is not being conducted by the 'valiant' srilankan army but, India by proxy.

Srilankans were just jumping up and down that all of a sudden their soldiers have become heroic as if they have drunk some magic potion over night.

Now the power of that magic potion seems to have weakened.

India says, 'stop!' and Rajapakse's just listen.

It is India which is behind the entire operation and partner in the genocide.

Anyway, let us hope that the suffering people get some relief.

When i talked to an MP who is a member of a human rights body, she explained all major conflicts are due to national identity crisis. created by British/French who in a hurry left these country created new nations with out considering the cultural, religious and language issues.

Everyone makes mistakes, the clever people will try to correct it. I think Britain is about to do that. Starting with Sri Lanka, then Kashmir.

When Obama came in to power one of think they wont to resolve is kashmir issue.

lots of other reason for UK get involved-:

*stop chinese influence in Lanka
*reduce the immigration of Tamils (Europe)
*election in london where lot of tamils live
*naval base - the most secured natural harbour.

the thought of karunanidhi and rajapakse being in the same drama is sickening.

nevertheless immense pressure on shit lanka has yielded a ceasefire I believe. US I am sure is monitoring the situation and has realtime spy satellite viewing capability. Complaints by Puleethevan would have gone straigth to US state department.

US would have been able to watch every death, every explosion that happened in the NFZ and hence thats what caused them to react.

In the last three decades of war, only Tamil civilians have suffered the most.

LTTE has not deliberately targetted the sinhala civilians except may be in a handful of incidents.

so the sinhalese still do not understand the pain and sufferings.

When things go out of control, they will also start experiencing the horrors of war and bloodshed.

If the LTTE had really adopted the terrot tactics in the south, they would have brought the sinhalese on their knees.

When it hurts them only then they may start understanding the consequences of their mad aggression against Tamils.

It is our fairness in the fight which is being taken for granted. But they have never reciprocated it and brutally attack our innocent civilians.

If LTTE starts giving them back in the same coin, it will be disasterous.

If good sense dawns upon the sinhalese faster, better for all.

They should realize that they cannot subjugate Tamils anymore.

They should be made to understand that it is better to keep away from the idea of enslaving Tamils.

We used only small arms AND OUR SMALL PENIS," he said. But rebel spokesman Seevaratnam Puleedevan told the TamilNet Web site that the military had launched two airstrikes in the small, coastal village of Mullivaikal even after the announcement and accused the government of "deceiving the international community."

Government officials declined to elaborate further on the statement, but another statement posted on the Defense Ministry Web site said Sri Lanka planned to press ahead with its offensive.

Sri Lanka Claims Christian activist is a TerroristRev. Dr Samuel Kobia, general secretary of World Council of ChurchesThe World Council of Churches called upon the Sri Lankan government to release Mr Santha Fernando, a noted Christian activist who was arrested last month in Colombo.

Mr Fernando, the executive secretary for justice and peace of the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka, was detained at Colombo's international airport on March 27 while he was on his way to address a Christian meeting in India.

The general secretary of The World Council of Churches (WCC), Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia, in a letter to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, demanded an expedite release of the Christian activist.

The letter expressed "deep concern" as "no specific reason for the arrest or detention of Mr Fernando has been given so far".

According to reports, the Ministry for Defence has issued a detention order for 30 days, to keep Fernando in the Terrorism Investigation Division. The detention has occurred on no substantial reason.

"Widely recognized as an Asian ecumenical leader with integrity and a strong commitment to justice and peace," Fernando "remains a victim of unlawful arrest and detention," Kobia said.

MR FLIP FLOPS HIS BALLS...

Contrary to the reports that Sri Lankan government has announced a ceasefire to end the hostilities in the country, President Mahindra Rajapakse clarified that there is no ceasefire and only combat operations were halted to rescue the civilians from the war zone. "LTTE has lost the war. There is no other option for them but to surrender. We want Prabhakaran and his aides alive", said Rajapakse.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has ended his fast amid the reports of Sri Lanka government's announcement of a ceasefire. Even Union Home Minister P Chidambaram took credit for "pressing" the Sri Lankan government to end hostilities and rescue the Tamil civilians trapped in the war zone.

It looks certain that Sri Lankan may launch a fresh offensive against the LTTE once the civilians are shifted to safer locations. Mahindra Rajapakse, while talking to a private TV channel in India, said that Sri Lankan government may extradite Prabhakaran to India, if he is caught alive.

Ashok Kumar said...

mgk,

The directors association has now decided to actively campaign against the defeat of congress candidates especially Chidambaram, Thangabalu and Elangovan.

There is no news about Seeman contesting in any of the constituency. It is better if he doesn't contest. It requires lot of money, organization etc... It is too late to arrange everything. Seeman does not even have an own house...

They have also announced that they would protest if sonia visits Tamilnadu. She is scheduled to come during May 1st week.

Ashok Kumar said...

May be Srilanka cannot openly admit ceasefire. They have to worry about the sinhalese reaction.

Anyway we will come to know in a day or two.

As India has openly declared that the srilankan government has agreed to cease combat, now it is upto them to make srilanka adhere to it.

A fierce battle erupts: SLA on multipronged attack; 160,000 people’s life at risk; All international diplomatic efforts failed: SL on genocidal act; Less regards for civilian lives; Dozens killed within hours.

Sri Lankan Army while on a multipronged attack from early morning today on the remaining patch of land in the safe zone area, tried to land through seafront in Mullivaikkal area and move forward in to safe zone.

Heavy gunfire coupled with cannon fire from sea and aerial bombing reported from Mullivaikkal where an estimated 160,000 civilians are held up.

The battle erupted at the early hours of today when Sri Lankan Army tried to move forward towards Iraddaivaikkal under the cover of heavy shelling and air attacks.

The LTTE also retaliating fiercely, the fighting is going on in both ground and sea. Sri Lankan Navy ships are firing cannon missiles towards the shore, while large number of fishing boats and ships are seen in the mid sea carrying troops.

The Sri Lankan Forces are continuously shelling on Mullivaikkal seafront to reduce the resistance and then to land the troops that are waiting in the mid sea.

Sri Lankan Air Force and ground troops are also engaged in the firing in support of the Sri Lankan Navy. Sri Lankan air force carried out 14 sorties within one and half hours (9.00am to 10.20 am)

The fierce battle may be one of the worst in recent times and expected to take tens of thousands of lives. People inside safe zone were sending SOS from yesterday night saying that the Sri Lankan Forces have encircled the safe zone and are engaged on a massive preparation for an onslaught and called international community to intervene and save the people.

While the attack on the seafront continues, ground troops are trying to breach a bund at Vadduvaikkal area and using all heavy weapons in the offensive. In the third front, Sri Lankan Army is trying to move forward through Iraddaivaikkal from early morning today.

People captured in earlier attacks are being used as human shields to move forward.

Earlier too there were reports of using the captured people as human shields during the attack on valaignarmadam and Pokkanai.

Now you can relax, stop the fastings, protests and take a break. Good job. Everything will be fine in another week.

"In plain language, the RBI governor was telling the IMF as it is about to sanction its biggest-ever loan to Lanka that the decimation of the LTTE was a hopeful signal for the economic future of the island and needs to be supported."

India was behind everything, it is becoming clearer every day.

If it was 100 million rupees for rajapaske needed he could have begged the eelam people and we would have thrown it on your face. I mean Sri lankans are not so cheap now. 100/20 is about 5 indian rupees each. However although this is a shameful act, you acted like a bully or rowdy to demand your money.

This is the biggest and most shameful defeat for Sri Lanka in their history. If Tamilnadu politicians are jokers, then the joke must be sri lanka and its armed forces. I could not help laughing and wondering whether Sarath was going to commit suicide.

The best part Prabha loses one Karuna and gains another. I mean Karunanidhi was willing to scarifice his life. Suicide unit. Sadly this will not prevent the AIADMK sweep and put his children into parliment. I told this many times before, jaya never hated or cared about the LTTE. Its just that she was in the opposition when Rajiv Ghandi got killed.

Even Rajiv Ghandi case wherby you guard of honour tried to kill him and failed. I mean really are you that useless. AT the end just like the french came to support the american revolutionaries, India under the BJP will gives the EELAM people the freedom they so much desire and deserve.

ACCEPT TAMIL EELAM. MY HATS OFF TO PRABHA.

Hi Navindran

BJP is not in support of a seperate eelam. They first need LTTE to release all civillions they are holding.

Then SLGO needs to bring a power devolution. No EELAM.

"The Bharatiya Janatha Party(BJP) of India issuing a statement demanded that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) immediately stop using Tamil civilians as a human shield.

In a statement issued on Saturday (25) the opposition Party on whom the LTTE had high hopes said the LTTE should stop using the destitute Tamil Civilians as a shield and they should start a dialogue with the Sri Lankan government. But until Sunday the LTTE showed no sign of giving up their human shield which they use as their main weapon these days as they have lost most of their armaments to the security forces.

According to the information coming from the battle zone, they have used the two day no fire pause the President gave as a respect to some international requests, and driven the destitute and helpless civilians deep into the area making it more difficult for the security forces to rescue them.

"The BJP calls on the Sri Lankan government to commence an immediate dialogue with Tamil representatives to find a viable solution that would give maximum devolution of powers within a united Sri Lanka," the party said in a statement.

But the BJP did not forget to include the LTTE demand for a ceasefire in their statement.

Indian political parties are more driven to a vote grab than understand the reality of the ground situation, military analysts in Colombo said.

But some UN officials driven by Western interests sent a delegation asking for a ceasefire. Western interests are hell bent on getting a ceasefire declared, save Prabhakaran, and give him another period of political life, as they think he would be more amenable to a political movement that would lead to the break up of India, political analysts in Sri Lanka charged.

Thanks to Lalith Kuriwita for accepting and telling the truth. Pleas tell it to the UN and China.

Sri Lanka says the conflict is an INTERNAL AFFAIR. So why did they make it an INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR by going to many countries and pleading with them to brand LTTE as a "terrorist" organization and to ban it in those countries.

Many of these countries banned LTTE at the request of Sri Lanka to oblige Sri Lanka even though no "terrorist" activities were conducted in their countries. BUT Sri Lanka had the audacity to ask them to "shut their mouth and mind their own bussiness" and NOT to interfere in its internal affairs when they requested a "humanitarian" cease-fire in Sri Lanka.

If these countries have any "self-respect" they should immediately lift the "BAN" on the LTTE in their countries (since it was done solely to OBLIGE Sri Lanka as no "terrorist" activities were conducted in those countries) accepting the stand taken by Sri Lanka now.

Do they have "Self-Respect"?. If so, will they "Lift the Ban"?
