United Nations satelite images show bomb craters throughout the "No Fire Zone"
The following report contains United Nations satellite images of the "No Fire Zone" taken several days ago which clearly show the extent of bomb damage to the densely populated civilian areas. While viewing the images, note the fact that practically no permanent building has a roof, but the walls remain intact - a clear indication that the building was bombed.
Already a large amount of evidence has been gathered to be used against Sri Lankan government officials for war crimes against civilians. The complete report is available here in pdf format:
http://www.innercitypress.com/UNOSAT19April09.pdf
[Note: The file was originally on the United Nations website, but has since been password protected so the public cannot see the report. Thankfully Inner City Press had downloaded it and posted it on their website before the U.N. tried to hide the report.]

[The second phase of the war will begin after a regrouping period]
Where are they going to be regrouped Badri?
If you don't know, that's exactly what SL government will prevent from now on. If you observe the enormous pressure that Gvt had and still not stopping the war, they will make sure these so called 'regroupings' will never occur.
You know what, before army kills these 'regrouped' LTTE bastards, there are enough Tamil civilians to give them the punishment. They know what they went through and all the lies told to them by the LTTE.
SL Gvt and army are not stupid, as much as winning the war is important, preventing this LTTE terror coming up again EVER, is equally important. There are elaborate plans being laid for that, if you want to know.
Also Sri Lankan soldiers are allowing people to "escape" from the camps in exchange for large payments (sometimes arranged by outside relatives). Of course very few have anything left that they can offer, so only the fortunate few are allowed to escape.
["Where are they going to be regrouped Badri?"]
Where they are will be the question you will have to ask once the no fire zone is cleared and you don't find any of the leaders. The fact is they already are in their place, and you weren't able to stop them from escaping.
Defence Liar started with fictions about diaspora. But Defence liar may not know that IMF loan is going to be a 'sour grapes' and criminal lanka is going to collapse like Argentina.

Jeyalalitha is not foolish. She sensed the TN peoples' current mental status. Only two weeks left for Chidramparam to release statements to press.
s.e.g , tamils were once moderate with sihala state. if any moderate person is faced with killing in this magnitude they woud have no choice but pickup wepons in self defence and
defence of its people.
every time sri lanka talks peace and then breaks it down and opt for war, it push every one to next level,
sri laka will never settle this problem politicaly, now LTTE is being quite with its actions, sihalese thugs in the south running riot. and tell people not to have Temple festivals becuase its their country.
When sigalese feal that they won the war. The violance and violations of HR is just goes 10 fold.
[Sri Lankan soldiers are allowing people to "escape" from the camps in exchange for large payments]
This could be big business for sri lankan goovernment. Thy do not need IMF loan they can sell tamils to their own people.
May be we should ask sri lanka what is tottal price they want for release all the tamil civilions ?
Also sound more like real kidnap situation devloping in army control area ?

{The inside story of the LTTE 'regime'
Surrendered LTTE cadres are shaming the LTTE to its core. Latest wave of surrendees have revealed vast amounts of information and Diaspora contacts that were part of an elaborate money laundering and weapons smuggling racket.
A woman who once held a very high profile in the LTTE's political wing and her husband, an LTTE cultural unit head were among the surrendees. They had provided details regarding a particularly interesting tour to Europe.
The LTTE political wing, cultural wing and some of its military leadership had taken part in this 8-nation European tour which had included Norway, Sweden, Denmark, France, UK, Germany etc. The LTTE 'delegation' had been instructed by its top leadership to use this as a cover to demand money from the Tamil Diaspora.
In a prior briefing given to the 'delegation', the LTTE leadership had explained to the delegation that their adherence to the Cease-Fire Agreement was a ploy and that they were buying time to rearm and reequip themselves for the final battle.
For this the Diaspora had to be convinced to donate their money. The main slogan was that the LTTE needed more money to buy more sophisticated weapons to counter those of the Sri Lankan military. Indeed some of these weapons had been procured, but where the rest of the money had gone was apparently not very clear to the 2nd and 3rd level leadership of the LTTE.
The weapons that were procured were impressive nevertheless for a small terrorist organization or any terrorist organization for that matter. One LTTE Fast Suicide Craft recovered recently and the surrendering of the Mastermind of the LTTE's boat manufacturing unit as well as the #2 of the boat engine unit has bared some incredible details.
The fast suicide craft had two 496 Horsepower engines made in the United States fixed to it. The suicide boat was capable of reaching 50 Knots, faster that the Navy's Super Dvora. The engines had been procured and the suicide boat manufacturing completed during the Cease-fire in 2004.
Among the junior LTTE surrendees were 52 forcibly recruited teenagers with their hair cropped. They had been taken by force from their families between mid 2008 and early 2009. Some had received only two days of training when the Army disrupted the LTTE training program allowing the children to escape.
A more senior LTTE cadre had revealed of a special training he had received from Israeli mercenaries during the cease-fire in 2004. The Israeli mercenaries had restructured the LTTE's Physical Training (PT) course as some of the exercises had been outdated and potentially damaging to the trainees, particularly to women and children. The team had also taught the tigers a few tactics.}
See Australia needs LTTE to lay down arms. Aus do not need a seperate eelam.
Peelamist in Australia haven't doen the job properly.
{Neither Australia nor the international community believed the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka could be solved by the creation of an independent Tamil state, Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said yesterday.
In an interview with ABC Television Minister Smith said the safety and protection of civilians must be the absolute priority for all sides engaged in fighting in northern Sri Lanka
He said Australia would commit an additional $4.5 million in humanitarian assistance for civilians caught up in the conflict in northern Sri Lanka. This assistance will provide urgent support including medical supplies, shelter, water and sanitation, he said.
"It's all aimed at trying to relieve the terrible humanitarian situation we find in Sri Lanka," he said.
"We have seen in recent days and weeks a very large number of displaced people and the assistance is aimed at trying to alleviate their burden," he said.
The aid will be delivered through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ($1.5 million), the International Organization for Migration ($1.5 million), International Committee of the Red Cross ($1.0 million) and RED R Australia, an Australian NGO which supports UNICEF in the delivery of water, sanitation, and shelter ($0.5 million).
The $4.5 million package is in addition to the $9 million in humanitarian support and food aid Australia has allocated to Sri Lanka since December last year. Australia has consistently made clear its deep concern about the humanitarian situation in northern Sri Lanka and agrees with the Secretary General that the UN humanitarian team in Sri Lanka should be given full access to the conflict zone to assess the full extent of the civilian situation in the area.
Mr. Smith said he had spoken at length to his British counterpart David Miliband over the weekend.
"We want to see the Tamil Tigers lay down their arms," he said.
It had been clear for months the Sri Lankan Government was winning the war.
"But it needs more than a military solution to give the Sri Lankan people the chance of a long-term enduring peace," Mr. Smith said.
Australia continued to urge the Sri Lankan Government and the Tamil Tigers to cease hostilities and seek a political settlement.}
Even Westerners who first believe LTTE propagranda have changed.
UK Foriegn Minister David Miliband said yesterday below.
No one was here to call a ceasefire to save Prabhakaran but we are here to discuss the protection of civilians that was our absolute and paramount interest. The LTTE should stop fighting, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Secretary of State David Miliband told at a press conference at the Foreign Affairs Ministry yesterday. ”The LTTE was a proscribed and banned organization in our countries and they are holding citizens in the No Fire Zone.
The LTTE had killed civilians in buses and shopping areas. Our concern was about the civilians, held by the LTTE in the No Fire Zone and other civilians in the IDP camps, Miliband said.
”We would discuss with the Sri Lankan Government, UN agencies, ICRC and the opposition how the international community could support the civilians in the NFZ,” he noted.
Answering a question about attacks on Sri Lankan embassies in Europe he said: “We condemn attacks not only in our country but in any other country.”
There were also innocent Tamils who were not supporting the LTTE and we cannot lock them up but we were trying to bring about a political change.
Foreign Secretary of France Dr. Bernard Kouchner said: “We are anxious about civilians held by the LTTE and we are concerned about the civilians who should rebuild their lives. Sri Lanka had suffered for more than 25 years and we are concerned about ending that situation. We are ready to help free hostages held by the LTTE. Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said the UK Government had donated 2.5 million Sterling Pounds for the welfare of the civilians of the north and within three days, the French Government had built a field hospital.
Clearing of land-mines was being done and resettlement of civilians of the north in their original places of habitation would be completed before December 31, 2009.
The rehabilitation of combatants to bring them back to normal society would be done under a legal structure, the Minister said.
Minister Bogollagama said that bilateral and multilateral agreements on the work to be done in the post conflict scenario were aimed at working together with the UK and French Governments had been reached so that the people who had suffered under terrorism could be rehabilitated. The two Foreign Ministers accompanied by Minister Rohitha Bogollagama were scheduled to visit the IDP camps in Vavuniya yesterday and open the field hospital donated by the French Government and were scheduled to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Embilipitiya later in the day.

The United States is threatening to block a $1.9 billion (£1.2 billion) emergency loan to Sri Lanka from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) because of the treatment of civilians caught in the conflict with the Tamil Tiger rebels, according to Western diplomats.
Sri Lanka applied for the loan early last month to help to cope with a financial crisis caused partly by the global credit crunch and partly by its record defence expenditure of $1.6 billion this year and $1.5 billion last year.
The Central Bank said that it expected to conclude negotiations on the loan by the end of March, and most analysts expected it to be cleared by mid-April. The IMF said last night, however, that the loan was still being discussed. Western diplomats say that is because the United States, Britain and other allies are reluctant to bail out unconditionally a Government that has dismissed their concerns about civilian casualties and human rights issues in the past few months.
They are also anxious not to lose their only real leverage over the Government in continuing negotiations over the plight of tens of thousands of civilians on the front line or in internment camps.

“The Americans want to play with the question of the IMF loan,” Jean-Maurice Ripert, France’s Ambassador to the UN, told Inner City Press — a news service covering the United Nations — on Tuesday. The Times has heard a recording of the comment. It was the first public admission by a Western official that Washington may be responsible for an apparent delay in the IMF emergency loan — which can be disbursed in ten days.
Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Sri Lankan President, vowed in March that he would not accept any conditions from the IMF, which was expelled from the Indian Ocean island in 2004. “We will not pawn or sell our motherland to obtain any monetary aid,” he said.
Sri Lanka’s Central Bank said last Wednesday that the IMF deal had reached an “advanced level of finalisation” and that an IMF team would visit this week before submitting it to the executive board for approval shortly. The Times has learnt, however, that US officials have written to the IMF’s executive directors and the Sri Lankan Government saying that it would be difficult for Washington to back the loan in the circumstances.
“There’s a lot of discomfort in being seen to bail out the Sri Lankan Government,” one Western diplomat said. The IMF declined to comment, but the loan is not on the executive board’s agenda for the next seven days. The final decision on an IMF loan is taken by its executive board, on which the United States wields the largest share of the votes — 16.77 per cent — because it makes the greatest financial contribution. The decision is ususlly reached by consensus.
The United States officially denies using the IMF loan in its negotiations with Sri Lanka over the war but admits that it is under discussion between different parts of the US Government. “The US has never threatened either publicly or privately to block the IMF loan to Sri Lanka,” said a spokesman for the US Embassy in Colombo. “There are discussions currently under way within the US Government.
“The Department of Treasury, the lead US government agency on IMF issues, is consulting with the State Deprtment and other USG agencies.” Diplomats say that opinion is divided in Washington and other Western capitals, with some officials arguing that IMF funding should be based on economic criteria alone.
Sri Lanka’s foreign currency reserves dropped to $1.4 billion in February from $3.4 billion in September, as the Central Bank defended the rupee’s peg to the US dollar.
Other US officials argue that the loan has clear political dimensions since the Government said in its application that it needed the money to “continue with the resettlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction work” in the north and east where the fighting has been. It said that the work was essential “to successfully implement the Government's efforts to bring a sustainable solution to the conflict”.
The loan would technically go to the Central Bank, but would free funds to be spent elsewhere. Officials on both sides of the debate are concerned about the potential for bad publicity from human rights groups and the Tamil diaspora if they support the loan.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) and other groups have urged the US and Britain not to approve the loan. “Sri Lanka is in a fiscal mess in good part because it massively overspent on this war,” Tom Malinowski. HRW’s Washington advocacy director, told The Times. “It can’t remotely expect the international community to bail it out of that mistake without taking some steps to meet global concerns about the way it’s waging the war.”
In Britain, a group called Public Interest Lawyers has urged the Government to vote against the loan. A similar US group is seeking a court order saying that approval of the loan would violate US law.

Bhairav,
What's the big deal about this IMF loan? If they are not going to give it, it does not mean it is not going to make things better for LTTE. What's your point? Are you trying to say that IMF will hearafter deal with the 'new country' called Tamil Eelam?
Mate, get a life. You can go on for another 30 years seeking an Eelam, but SL is hell bent on saying enough is enough and there won't be another 30 years of LTTE terror. That's right!
Remember, everybody, I mean everybody including your 'new found' friend USA as you call it, has never ever said that LTTE is NOT a terrorist organisaion.
Did you hear and see what the two foreign ministers said yesterday in SL? Is it any different? That's what matters, Yes. LTTE is a terrorist organisation and its maniac terror leader is one of the most WANTED men in the world including in the country where the real Tamil Homeland exists (India, if you just guessed where the hell this Tamilhomeland is).

Hi Roy
It is not safe. Because LTTE is killing their own civillian in the NFZ. So it is very dangerous or IC monitoring people to visit that area.
Today I was watching Paul Holmes speech at the UN. He also said that it is very dangerous to visit that area as LTTE is firing at civillians who try to flee.
He also said he is happy with what SLGO has done to help liberated people.
Hi Roy

Its not safe bcos the SLA has turnrd it into a Tamil People Killing Zone with continous bombardment aerial and artilerry.
LTTE has ask for international monitoring its your govt that has refused citing the danger as an excuse to keep them away and carry out their genocide.
Its obvious LTTE can't be firing heavy weapons into NFZ. It like one aiming a gun at oneself. So obviously, the risk for non combatants (including internatioanl observers etc) comes from SLA bombing and shelling "Tamil People Killing Zone"

For all people who equate the current struggle to Bangladesh issue and wanting India to interfere:
East-Pakistan issue was completely different and a very very legitimate issue.
The fact remains that out of the then 300 constituencies in West & East Pakistan combined together, the Awami League headed by Sheik Mujibhur Rahman won 169 seats thereby having the majority to form the Govt of Pakistant.
However,West Pakistan didnt want to be ruled by a party from East Pakistan.Hence General Yahya Khan the then Pak President, nullified the elections and started the blood shed in East Pakistan.

The United States has decided to delay a $1.9 billion (1.28 billion pounds) International Monetary Fund loan to Sri Lanka to try to pressure Colombo to do more to help civilians caught in the fighting between the government and Tamil Tiger rebels, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.
The officials, who spoke on condition they not be named, said the Obama administration last week conveyed its view to other members of the IMF board, which has yet to formally consider the loan.
India is very angry with china. China blocked india from getting 3 Billion USD loan from ADB for improving its rural facilities while allowed Sri lanka to get 150 Million USD for constructing Power lines in North with the condition that the contract should go to chinese.
This is Pissed off India which is now selling all its shares in ADB bank & instead rooting for membership in World Bank & IMF.

{'War won't stop until Prabhakaran is taken, dead or alive' says Secretary Defence
"My problem is not what the LTTE will do to you," the Defence Secretary said, "instead it is that should such a thing happen, we would not be able to take Prabhakaran as planned!". He said after thirty years, the time had come finally for Prabhakaran and other terrorist leaders to be captured dead or alive and the government would not stop until that end was achieved.
Defence Sectary Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday(Apr 29), rejected visiting British Foreign Secretary David Miliband's call for a ceasefire, and told him that the government would not stop its war on terror until the LTTE was crushed and its leader Prabhakaran captured, dead or alive.
Briefing a British delegation that included the British Foreign Secretary, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Dr. Peter Hayes and two other diplomats, at the Foreign Ministry, yesterday morning the Defence Secretary did not mince his words, when he said it was Sri Lankan troops and civilians who had perished in the conflict and therefore the government was determined to finish off the LTTE. He said humanitarian concerns were only a ploy employed by some people to extricate Prabhakaran and his top leaders from the mess they had got into. He said a truce would only help the LTTE to regroup.
"The only person who could stop this war," a plain-spoken Defence Secretary told the British dignitaries, "is only the President of Sri Lanka." The military had orders to either capture or destroy Prabhakaran and other top LTTE leaders, he added.
Mr. Rajapaksa told the British delegation that since March 2009, over 200,000 persons had been rescued by the army. "On April 20 alone we secured the release of over 100,000 men, women and children from the clutches of the LTTE," he said promising to rescue the others shortly. He said the whole world had witnessed that rescue operation that the army had conducted without firing a single shot.
When Miliband interrupted him to say that Britain had information that civilians had been harmed due to the army's firing, the Defence Secretary said Britain should not be duped by the disinformation campaign the LTTE was carrying out. "Even BBC is dishing out LTTE propaganda material without verification," he told Miliband.
Miliband said his claim was not based on BBC reports but credible information elicited from sources in the LTTE-held no fire zone. Apparently annoyed, the Defence Secretary said anyone who knew the LTTE would not believe that any reliable information would emanate from that area under its jackboot. All the stories that were disseminated from the no fire zone, he told the British delegation, were all doctored by the LTTE for the consumption of the international community and the western media. "Do you think a terrorist group like the LTTE will allow anyone to express independent views detrimental to its cause?" he asked.
The Defence Secretary said it was up to the British delegation to decide whether it should believe what a terrorist group said or what a responsible officer of a legitimate government told them. "The choice is yours," he said.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner requested that the UN be given access to the civilian zone held by the LTTE. The Defence Secretary said no one was safe in that area and the government could not guarantee anyone's safety. Kouchner replied that he was prepared to visit the area himself. He said he would take the risk and go there.

"We feel Sri Lankan Government is ready to kill 10,000 civilians for 100 LTTA cadres."
And what do you feel about the LTTE? How many civilians will the LTTE use as human shields to protect 100 cadres? Why is the LTTE firing on civilians trying to escape? Why did 100,000 Tamils last week flee from the LTTE good guys towards the SL govt bad guys?
mgk,
Raja Kannappan of AIADMK is a strong candidate against P.Chidambaram. All pro Eelam Tamil activists are campaigning vigorously against P.Chidambaram.
Desperately Chidambaram is unleashing his money power in the constituency, supervised by his son Karthik Chidambaram.
But Raja Kannappan is also capable of matching his currency onslaught and Jayalalitha is reported to have instructed her party to do 'everything possible' to defeat Chidambaram.
AS for as Elangovan is concerned, he is digging his own grave because of his foul mouth.
Anger against congress is building up day by day as people witness the daily killings in their television.
Even die hard DMK activists admit that they do not have chances of winning in most of the constituencies.
So much so, they even say that if sonia doesn't come for campaigning, it would be better. If she comes, they may loose more votes.
CD's containing Tamil genocide visuals are being circulated and screened.Police is trying to confiscate them as the DMK knows that this genocide will go against them.
The charge against the screening of the CD is that 'it is trying to damage the relationship with our sovereign neighbour by interfering in its internal affairs!'
Hi Veeran
You always try to mix or mess up Tamil & LTTE terrorism.
LTTE terrorism is different from Tamil.
Indian Congress & BJP always said they are against LTTE Terrorists. They are never against Tamils so as SLGO. Japan, UK, US, & No-Way co-chairs also issued a statement asking LTTE to lay down arms and surrender.
You all LTTE Terrorists try to show that Tamil = LTTE terrorists.
Are we headed for a showdown at the UN?
Read this statement by Milliband/Koucher very carefully, especially the last paragraph:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article6194491.ece
I see this as a united western bloc (UK/France/US) making the case to China/Russia as to why SL should be on the formal agenda of the UNSC. Note the use of the terms “responsibility to protect” and the need for an “international relief effort”.
We know China is already sensitive to its image on human rights violations. How much pressure are they willing to absorb from the west on behalf of its interests in SL? It’s time for the diaspora to do its part to put pressure on China. Demostrations should be held at Chinese embassies in the west.
Moda lalith,
When u are willing to kill 50000 Tamils for the sake of killing 100 tigers, u think we are Dumbos in not seeing ur game plan ?
It is tamils you want to kill & not tigers to reduce their population.
JVP is going to rise its head in South considering the pathetic finances going on in South of Colombo & Sinhala racist govt is not able to get Finances as it wants.
Toilet paper is going to hit 150 Rs & Collapse of Srilanka is imminent.

Sri Lankan rebels say they will not surrender
By RAVI NESSMAN – 53 minutes ago
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — The Tamil Tigers said Thursday they would never surrender to the advancing Sri Lankan forces and appealed to the international community to work harder for a cease-fire in the country's bloody civil war.
Sri Lanka has refused growing diplomatic pressure to stop its offensive against the rebel group's last stronghold in the northeast to safeguard the estimated 50,000 civilians trapped in the area.
"If any country really cares about these people, I ask that country to go beyond its 'diplomatic boundaries' for the sake of saving human lives and make Sri Lanka stop this genocidal war," rebel political chief Balasingam Nadesan told The Associated Press in an e-mail interview from the war zone.Nadesan's comments came a day after the British and French foreign ministers traveled to Sri Lanka to push for a humanitarian truce and access for aid workers to the war zone.
In recent months, government forces have pushed the Tamil Tigers out of the shadow state they controlled in the north of the country and cornered them in a tiny sliver of land along the northeast coast.
The rebels called for a cease-fire Sunday; the government demanded the separatists surrender instead. Nadesan rejected that demand.
"Surrendering and laying down our arms are out of the question. Our freedom struggle will continue until (our) legitimate aspirations are met," he said.
The government and international rights groups have accused the rebels of holding tens of thousands of ethnic Tamil civilians as human shields to slow the government offensive.
Nadesan denied the accusation, calling it government propaganda.
"We all are family. How could anyone hold his or her family as a "human shield?" he said.

m.g.k, Can you see your Padesan's statement. It contradicts itself. They refuse to surrender, but 'appealed' to the international community for a ceasefire. LMAO. Really LMAO.
Why doesn't he say 'we are fighting to kill the SL army, and we've got 10,000 strong "sarong brigade". Loser. Their time is up.
This is good, they should not surrender, that creates problems as they should never be captured alive. No need for rehabilitation expenses.
Instead, they are helping the army to wipe them out from the earth. Go ahead make our day, one should say.
Do you know that SL Army's Special Forces are the best in the world. How do I know that?, because I know a few SF,. and gosh, they are bloody good.

David Miliband to BBC:
''Srilanka should be on the UN security council agenda for which UK, France and the US are pushing for as the war has regional and wider ramifications.
Srilankan government may win the war but the danger is that they loose the peace and we have 25 more years of terrorism because Tamil communities across srilanka are so appalled by what they have seen.
Well, so called 'safe zone' is not safe at all, that is where the conflict has been going on.
The srilankan defence secretary confirmed that there will be absolutely no more heavy shelling, that they must put into practice...
... but it is to stop the fighting that the Eurppean Union and G8 have been calling for.''

Dear Friends,
I am posting this under urgent conditions, need to get the word out please.
LTTE now plans to commit mass murder. They have approximately 12,000 civilians all in explosive wired tents surrounded by prabhakarans main bunker complex vellamullivaikal south east. There is a small lagoon between the land and main lagoon. This region was heavily bombed by our air force about 3 days ago for almost 10 hours. VP may be dead as most of his cadre, but even if there is anyone left they will not let us find the truth. They are trying to take 12,000 civilians with them to the grave.
We will try to put up UAV for monitoring but flying over that 2 mile area is not possible 24 hours. Every action is now seen by US and UK through their satellites.<<<<
{'Threat to Tamils in Sri Lanka is posed by the Tigers themselves' - National Post
"Many Tamil spokesmen here in Canada seem to live in a dreamworld -- ignoring the plain fact that (as the United Nations and several blue-chip NGOs have pointed out) a primary threat to Tamils in Sri Lanka is posed by the Tigers themselves, who are holding trapped civilians as human shields. Given that the protesters seem curiously unperturbed by the Tigers' own brutality toward Tamils, one is left to wonder what their real goal is: saving Tamils, or saving the remaining leadership of the Tigers" states the Canadian National Post on Wednesday (April 29).
The paper made these remarks seriously criticizing the ongoing cycle of Tamil protests, adding idle time to core-bound commutes, and subjecting the country's most expensive labour to the constant angry thrum of folk drumming. "There is a fine line between accommodating spontaneous political action on behalf of a legitimately concerned ethnic group seeking to express solidarity with brethren overseas -- and letting one's city be taken over by a mob, the paper further stated in its editorial titled, 'The fine line between a protest and a mob', on Wednesday. }
Hi m.q.k & all Peelamists
If LTTE is not going to surrender, they are against IC's request.
If LTTE not going to surrender, they need not any ceasefire. They need to fight with SLA until either SLA or LTTE wins.
Can any Peelamist answer these two questions?

Why does SL government want to travel 300Kms to 'tamil Ealam' to kill tamils?. We have plenty of tamils in Colombo and other parts of the country; and Jaffna. So what is your rubish genocide story? Innocent tamils would want the back of LTTE as well, sooner than later.
1.Why do SL army soldiers die trying to free civilians?.
2. why do the civilians come out of the grip of your supreme leader if they are getting genocided by army?
Do you understand Tamil? I believe you may do a litte bit. Just listne to the people who have come out and hear what they say in tamil. Also listne to the recently surrenderred LTTE kids. Are you so dense, SL needn't to travel 300 kms anymore. The whole of the East (Wanni) is under Nazi oocupation. Tamils held captive in concentration camps. What happens inside these camps will be out of the international HR scrunity.

Bullshit, your soldiers are known looters, rapist and killers apart from your highly esteem journalists. We know what your peace keeping force did in Haiti ..
[2. why do the civilians come out of the grip of your supreme leader if they are getting genocided by army?]
With a shrinking NFZ where you expect civilians to live ?? Isnt that the objective of your racist Sinhala regime. First bomb, shell and force them out of their homes , later force them out of the so called safe zones (or Tamil peopel killing Zone).
Next place them in camps, to facilitate further unlash Nazi genocide terrorism upon the minority.
Why these people are placed in concentration camps and not send back to their homes ?
The whole intention is to destroy the Tamils morally, physically and emotionally

It seems they are setting the stage for next round of mass murder and put the blame squarely on LTTE. Morons go around and putting this "highly reliable military intelligence(?) information" on other areas (saw it in another Indian forum) to pave the way for "I told you so..".
Let us check this "highly reliable military intelligence(?) information"
1. VP is hiding in vellamullivaikal south east. -- Wow, they know the location of where VP is but the highly reliable intelligence couldn't confirm whether he is alive or not???
2. "approximately 12000 civilians in explosive wired tent" -- This take the cake. They counted "approximately 12,000" civilians in the tent with explosives and yet they couldn't confirm whether VP is alive or not?
3. "This region was heavily bombed 3 days ago." -- Didn't their moronic commander said they are not using Heavy weapon on Civilian zone? So, now the "highly reliable intelligence(?) source" revealing that there were heavy shelling on NFZ? Doesn't seem intelligent to me..
This bogus "Intelligence" reveals that Singala's prepared/expects to kill about 10K+ civilians.

In July 2007, Sri Lanka´s army chief, Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, had told journalists that India was training 800 officers annually, free of charge, describing India´s support as "huge". "Furthermore, there are credible reports indicating that India´s support for the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksha government is based on base economic calculations: that Tamil areas destroyed by Sri Lanka´s ferocious military offensive will offer lucrative investment opportunities for Indian companies under the guise of helping Tamils living there" said the press statement issued today by People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), Uttar Pradesh state chapter.

Satellite images can only show large craters. They will not show mortar attacks, RPG attacks, heavy caliber machine gun attacks, or even smaller artillery attacks. They will show aerial bombing, which is just a tiny percent of the overall attacks.
["This region was heavily bombed by our air force about 3 days ago for almost 10 hours."]
Only an idiot would say all the tents are rigged with explosives, and the airforce bombed the area for 3 straight days without causing any of the rigged tents to explode. You can't have it both ways. Either there are bombs on the tents, and you can't fire there without it triggering a huge chain reaction explosion, or there are no bombs on the tents and you can bomb them for 3 days.
DW SAID IN THE RECENT ARTICLE ..THE WAR WOULD BE OVER BY 1ST MAY...HEHEHE,...ANOTHER DEADLINE MISSED...
Everyone writes off LTTE prematurely, but LTTE still shows the tremendous amount of resilience. Outpouring support of diaspora Tamils and TN will even make the case stronger for LTTE, eventually the world will realize that the two states solution is the only option for current conflict.

Sri Lankan minister launches angry attack on David Miliband
Sri Lanka's defence minister Gotabaya Rajapaksa has launched an angry verbal attack on Britain's foreign secretary David Miliband, accusing him of basing his policy on Tamil Tiger propaganda.

Sri Lankan minister launches angry attack on David Miliband
Mr Rajapaksa, who is known as a passionate and feisty advocate of completely crushing the Tamil Tigers and capturing its leadership, said Mr Miliband had interrupted him during their meeting. Photo: AFP
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the president's brother raged at the co-ordinated pressure being put on his government by the international community and singled out this week's visit of Mr Miliband and his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner as a "waste of time".
He spoke after reports of a "stand up row" between him and Mr Miliband during a meeting in Colombo in which the Foreign Secretary was trying to persuade the Sri Lankan government to declare a ceasefire to allow civilians trapped in the fighting to leave.
Mr Rajapaksa, who is known as a passionate and feisty advocate of completely crushing the Tamil Tigers and capturing its leadership, said Mr Miliband had interrupted him during their meeting.
"Maybe it's his way but I don't mind his attitude or his ways. My issue is the present situation and why he should interfere in these things. That's what I told him. People in this country approve of what the president is doing and a leader must listen to people in his own country not the foreign minister of the UK," he said.
He said Britain and other members of the international community were now plaguing Sri Lanka with "unnecessary" visits to please the Tamil communities in their own countries but had not been so vocal when the Tamil Tigers had assassinated top Sri Lankan politicians and innocent civilians.
"In Mr Miliband's constituency there are many Tamils and they want to save the LTTE leadership, not civilians. It's a joke. We have proved we can save these civilians by rescuing 200,000. So why so many foreign ministers in this indecent hurry?
"When Prabhakaran [the LTTE leader] killed so many innocent civilians, no foreign minister came or put pressure on the LTTE. Where was Mr Miliband? What happened to him? Was he sleeping? We're just wasting our time with these dignitaries and VIPs coming to this country over and over again because of your internal problem to satisfy their [Tamil] diaspora," he said.
The two men had apparently clashed when Mr Miliband said he had received reports that army shelling was killing civilians. Mr Rajapaksa accused him in turn of believing BBC reports which he claimed were influenced by Tamil Tiger propaganda.
The British High Commission in Colombo denied it had been a row but admitted there had been an "open and frank exchange of views and strong opinions were aired".
A spokesman for Mr Miliband said he was not aware of there being a Tamil community in the Foreign Secretary's South Shields constituency.
"I take some exception to the suggestion that the Prime Minister, David Miliband, Bernard Kouchner, Hillary Clinton or the ministers of the G8 and European Union are motivated in this by electoral politics rather than genuine humanitarian concern," he said.
It is not the first time Mr Miliband has upset government ministers during a foreign trip. Earlier this year, the Indian Government lodged a complaint about his "aggressive" and "arrogant" manner during a visit to the country. A senior official spokesman said the Government had been irritated by the Foreign Secretary's attitude, adding: "He did not come across as the foreign minister of a friendly nation".
Badri, what a coincidence, we both post the same article.
Tamil guradian:
“Those who think that the LTTE will be destroyed in the coming weeks and that then it is a question of 'peace building' and 'development' for the next few years are gravely mistaken,” [Instead] the foundations for a cataclysmic civil war are being inexorably laid today. The kind of polarisation that sustain not decades, but generations of struggle has become widespread and embedded.”

Confidential UN satellite images leaked today appear to prove that Sri Lanka’s air force bombed a safehaven for civilians fleeing fighting against the Tamil Tigers.
The images contained in a leaked internal UN report may constitute the strongest evidence yet of violations of international humanitarian law, or war crimes, according to human rights activists. At the time up to 150,000 civilians were in the area.
The report by the UN’s Unosat arm, dated April 26, provides detailed images of the tiny strip of beach and coconut grove -- now covering just 3.8 square miles -- where the army has pinned down the Tigers along with thousands of civilians.
The government declared the area a safehaven or “no-fire zone” in January, urging civilians to seek shelter there, and has repeatedly denied using heavy artillery or aerial bombs to attack it.

However, the Unosat report, based on images between February 5 and April 19, appears to back up the persistent verbal testimony to the contrary from doctors, aid workers and civilians fleeing the area.
“Within the northern and southern sections of the Civilian Safe Zone, there are new indications of building destruction and damages resulting from shelling and possible air strikes,” the report said.
Francesco Pizano, Unosat’s manager, told The Times it was compiled to assist UN agencies and aid organisations in Sri Lanka and was accidentally placed on one of their websites. He said his analysts had concluded that some of the damage in the images could only have been caused by aerial bombing.
“This kind of accuracy you acquire only with air power,” he said. “The craters beyond a certain size also make our analysts almost certain that these were air-dropped bombs.”
He declined to say which side was responsible, but the army says it destroyed the last of the Tigers’ small air wing when it shot down two of its planes over Colombo in February.
Human rights activists said the images require detailed analysis and further enquiries, but could provide the hardest evidence yet that the army had shelled and bombed civilians.
“This is incontrovertible evidence that the government has been lying for months,” said Peter Bouckaert, Emergencies Director for Human Rights Watch.
“The images are significant because they show there’s been heavy shelling and bombing inside the no-fire zone.”
A Sri Lankan military spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
The images emerged as Sri Lanka rejected appeals for a ceasefire from David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, and Bernard Kouchner, the French Foreign Minister, who both visited the island on yesterday.
“We have at no time gone for a ceasefire. We will not do so now,” Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President who met the two visiting ministers, said in a speech.
“I don’t need lectures from Western representatives.”
Sri Lanka also published details of an apparently heated exchange over civilian casualties between Mr Miliband and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Defence Secretary who is also the President’s brother.
Back in London, Mr Miliband told parliament that any alleged war crimes should be investigated “urgently, independently and credibly”.
He said he did not think it was feasible to expel Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth as it sits on the body’s ministerial action group, which makes decisions by consensus.
However, he hinted that Britain might join the United States in trying to use Sri Lanka’s application for a $1.9 billion emergency IMF loan as leverage in negotiations, as reported by The Times yesterday.
“We are duty bound to look extremely carefully at the situation on the ground should any plan be presented to the IMF board,” he said.
“It is a basic tenet of the work of the IMF that any money should be put to good use.”
The British government’s official line until yesterday was that the loan should be granted purely on economic criteria.

dailymirror is claiming there are atleast two more earth bunds to surmount before getting at the remainning NFZ.
I reckon with two or more earth bunds, sla will find it impossible to "finish" it off before may 13th.
Worst human rights violations are unfolding in Kilinochi where confirmed news say SLA are sexually assaulting the Tamil girls and torturing the guys in continuous basis in their so called mysterious detention camps.
I got an information that Indian army personals are taken out from naagar kovil (in SL, not the one in TN). If it is true, I suspect that Sonia is pulling the troops out from SL. Election is nearing the completion date and it is not possible to do a full scale withdrawel in a single night without being noticed. So, it seems they have started gradual withdrawl.
The information coming out after the polls (PHASE 1, 2 and 3) suggest that BJP is heading for forming the next government in India. fingers crossed...
bhairav, they are using the killonichi hospital as torture centre. incidently the building was built by Japanese donations.
thamilz..good news!
Bhairav,
I follow the following link (besides few other) on election related news. Cong. going below 100 is far fetch but it may reach 120 or so which will not help them form the next government. 75% chance of BJP coming to power and 25% chance of 3rd front (kitchadi) coming to power now.

Gothaya Said:
"When Prabhakaran [the LTTE leader] killed so many innocent civilians, no foreign minister came or put pressure on the LTTE. Where was Mr Miliband? What happened to him? Was he sleeping?"
...and here I thought the western powers put a pressure on LTTE by banning it in their respective countries. I think it is high time these countries consider lifting the ban on LTTE to teach these beggers a lesson.
THAMILZ...
the links u gave suggest that advani would be PM and he would not support any onelse becoming PM.. so jailalitha has no chance?
WHO SAYS TAMILS ARE LIVING PEACEFULLY IN COLOMBO!!!!
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/tamils-fear-retribution-as-war-reaches-its-climax-1677122.html
One university lecturer, who agreed only to speak on the telephone, said: "The police are always asking us what we are doing here. Why we are in Colombo. We are scared. In public places we have to speak Sinhalese. If you speak Tamil in a bus or market, people will stare."
This, of course, does not equate to support for the rebels' violent tactics. But on a walk through Bambalapitiya, replete with Hindu temples and flower sellers, practically everyone who agreed to speak voiced some degree of sympathy for the LTTE.
m.g.k. - nice link, need to post that article everytime some rajafuksa ball licker posts "tamils and sinhalese are living peacefully in the sinhala south" crap.
apparently army.lk has been taken down.
single cellies are peeing in their pants... hilarious..

Hacking confirmed by shit lanka defence department:
http://www.defence.lk/new.asp?fname=20090501_01
m.g.k, that's the good link.
It seems Badri has walk in the park on these coolies' sites :)
With only 23 seats (the total number of seats AIADMK contesting), jaya don't have a chance to become a PM. Even if 3rd front comes to power, they would like to put a weak person as a PM so that the other kichadies can do whatever they want. IK gujaral, Thevagowda are the examples.
When did hacking become cyber terrorisam ?
its cyber crime not terroisam, you see this how sri lanka does its probaganda.
Hope there was some good evidance optained from army's network.
Seeman makes a request:

HAHA...Shit lanka cant even protect their army website!! how are they fighting the war!! of course with the help of other nation...orelse they will be dead by now...
["The official website of Sri Lanka Army, www.army.lk has been hacked by suspected LTTE hackers this morning (May 1)."]
Hahahahaha. 500 rupees is all it takes to buy out the army.lk coolies. The government already had to change the entire team because they were selling information for scraps.
Now the new team has also been compromised, and this new team is made up completely of military personnel. Their own soldiers are willing to sell out their country for scraps of toilet paper.
Hacking is when an outside person compromises a secure computer network. But when it's their own staff members, it isn't technically hacking and is not a crime. Their staff members are already given all access passwords, so misuse of those security clearances is not hacking.
The Sri Lankan government is too embarrassed to admit that their own military personnel was involved, so they pretend it was a case of hacking by LTTE agents. If they check their access logs they will see everything happened locally.
Guys, we do have SUN TV at home, and they never uttered any bit news about suffering Eelam Tamils in their usual news time. We decided to cancel Sun TV channel from this week on.

Other nation , you mean India !!! I think you are over-rating India. India cant even re-claim back 1/4 of Kashmir it lost to Pakistan and another quater of Arunachal Pradesh which it lost to China. Plus the insurgents operating in NE and Naxalites etc and yet this country of slumdogs is trying to flex its muscle in SL ...
What an ass is Kalanidhi Maran who said in his election campaign that Karunanidhi never stopped thinking about Tamilnadu Tamils except in his 8 hour surgery.
See what army.lk looked like:

Bhairav,
GR is a great leader. What do you morons expect him to do after trying to kill kim through a human bomb (bomber was not VP's son, daughter or wife.)
Why do not you diaspora go to vanni and offer yourselves as the next suicide bombers. Take your wives, children and mothers and fathers with you.
Read this bit of the article that you put, carefully.
...It is not the first time Mr Miliband has upset government ministers during a foreign trip.

This is the true picture of Dictator
{Ambassador Jayatilleka further said that LTTE not only killed leaders of the government but also killed their own community members. Anita Pratap, a journalist and the author of The Island of Blood, who was a sympathizer of the LTTE, interviewed Mr. Prabhakaran in 1990s. She requested from the LTTE to see Mahaththaya, deputy leader of the LTTE, who was at that time in the custody of the LTTE. A weakened and demoralized Mahaththaya was shown to Ms. Pratap, who asked from Mr. Prabhakaran as to why Mahaththaya was being punished and Prabhakaran told her that it was because he had been too soft when negotiating with President Premadasa. Later in 1994, Mahaththaya was killed by the LTTE. }
Good News for EELAMISTS
{U.N. council sees no need to punish Sri Lanka
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The members of the U.N. Security Council agree there is no point in punishing Sri Lanka by withholding a $1.9 billion International Monetary Fund loan or other steps, the council's president said on Thursday.
"I have not heard anyone suggesting that," Mexican Ambassador Claude Heller, president of the 15-nation council, told reporters after an informal session on Sri Lanka.
Asked if all members of the council agreed that penalties such as withholding the loan were unnecessary, Heller said, "Absolutely."
U.S. officials said on Wednesday Washington was trying to delay the loan to pressure the government to do more to help tens of thousands of civilians caught in the fighting between the government and Tamil Tiger rebels.
But Sri Lanka's central bank said on Thursday that there was no delay in its application for the loan and negotiations were in the final stages.
British Ambassador John Sawers said London agreed that punishing Sri Lanka did not belong on the agenda.
"We're not in the job of penalizing the government of Sri Lanka," Sawers said. "We want to help the government of Sri Lanka to address this problem. I just wish that the government ... was more open to the offers of help that have been extended to it."
U.N. humanitarian affairs chief John Holmes briefed the council on his trip Sri Lanka, telling them that he hoped the government would finally live up to its repeated promises to stop using heavy artillery in the conflict zone, where U.N. officials estimate some 50,000 people are trapped.
It is the last redoubt of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, who have been fighting a 25-year war with the government for a separate ethnic Tamil homeland.
In remarks prepared for the press, Heller said the council repeated its calls on the government not to shell the conflict zone and urged the Tigers to stop using the civilians as human shields and lay down their weapons.
Sri Lankan Ambassador H.M.G.S. Palihakkara said his government had assured him it was not using heavy artillery against the tiny strip of land where the civilians are.
But U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice made clear Washington had doubts about the government's denials.
"Despite the government of Sri Lanka's promise to suspend combat operations, most accounts indicate that shelling into the conflict zone continues," she said in remarks prepared for delivery at the closed-door meeting.
"Very credible reports also indicate that the Tamil Tigers are using civilians as human shields, and have, in some cases, shot at civilians trying to leave the conflict area."
Rice urged both sides to "prevent further loss of civilian life."}
Hi m.q.k
When Airforce was flying over the NFZ LTTE attached. Then Planes bombed on LTTE bunkers. The report says that there were no civillians.
Now why are LTTP is hiding in the NFZ?
