LTTE leadership likely executed after being tricked into surrender

It appears Prabhakaran and senior leaders were betrayed, possibly by an unknown senior leader, and tricked into surrendering to the Sri Lankan army, after which they were all executed with a shot to the head. It is impossible that both Charles Anthony and Prabhakaran could have been shot directly between the eyes in combat. Several Sri Lankan soldiers have been bragging about events surrounding the execution of the LTTE leadership, including members from the non-combatant civil services wing and even family members of LTTE leaders. We will not go into details of what they say, but it seems to confirm that LTTE leaders were all tricked into surrendering and then cruelly executed.

Prabhakaran was never the person communicating with the Sri Lankan army and the IC. So he had no way of knowing what the real position was, except from what he was told. It would have been very easy for a traitor to convince him that the Sri Lankan army had agreed under IC pressure to a laying down of arms and then negotiations.

Soosai's name seems to have been kept out of most defence.lk reports, making him look like a suspect. But if it was him, they would not have mentioned his wife and children being arrested. It would be better just to escort them away and keep everything a secret. Whatever the case, I am sure there is one or more traitors who are still living, but listed as killed by the Sri Lankan army to give them a new identity. There have been moles inside the LTTE for several years, and the many assassinations are proof of this.

Also note this shocking evidence. The two photographs of Charles Anthony released by the Sri Lankan government (one showing him dead, and one showing him alive) are wearing the exact same clothes. In the living photo he is wearing the same shirt that he was killed in. It appears they took this photo after he was arrested, just before executing him. Please see the photos below:

Please note that there has never been a recent photo available with the Sri Lankan government showing Charles Anthony until the day they recovered his dead body. What is the chance of this? In all of the other reports they released over the last several weeks they have been showing very old photos of him in LTTE uniform, which were clearly taken several years ago. But the day they find his dead body (with a bullet wound directly in the head), they also release a new photo of him which perfectly matches his present looks, and is wearing the exact same clothes as when he was killed. The hair and mustache is even cut to the exact same size and shape. It is clear this photo was taken just hours before he was cruelly executed by the Sri Lankan army with a shot to his head.

This is further proven by the fact that in videos of the body, there are pools of fresh wet blood pouring out of the wounds on his body. This is only possible if the video was taken immediately after he was killed. If he had been killed in combat, or if he had committed suicide, the blood would have already coagulated and would not create fresh puddles when they placed him on the tarpaulin.

Badri, due to the security reason, it will take some time for them to come up with something. Until then, it is better to stop spreading rumours about their "murder". surrendering to sl army means they accept the defeat which in my opinion would be much worse than escape and fight another day or die in battle.

I ALSO THINK SOMETHING FISHY

I THINK MAYBE VP WANTED CA TO BE WITH LTTE CIVIL AUTHORITIES TO BE SURRENDERED, BECAUSE CA WAS NOT GIVING ORDERS HE COULD HAVE BEEN ESCAPED IN TRIALS.

THEN VP SOOSAI POTTU WHO GIVE ORDERS TRY TO FLEE INTO JUNGLES AND GOT KILLED IN THE PROCESS. VP'S BODY IS IN THE WATER FOR A LONG SO THATS WHY IT LOOK BLOATED. THIS IS THE ASSUMPTION I COME UP WITH AFTER READING EVERYONE COMMENTS.

SLA DELAYED VP'S BODY BECAUSE IT WAS INSIDE THE WATER. AS FOR THE PICTURES OF OTHER LEADERS IT DIDN'T MATTER. NO ONE CARES ONLY US KEYBOARD WARRIORS DO.

BUT AS MAKKAL TV SAID. ANOTHER PRABAHARAN WILL RISE TO POWER IN NO TIME. I JUST WONDER IF SLA GOVT WILL LEARN FROM LTTE1.

IF NOT LTTE2 WILL RISE TO POWER

absolutely right. The first priority should be to arrest the population decline. If this struggle go on for another 10-20 years, eelam tamil population would be readuced to < 5%. LTTE should have realized it in 2004 and gone for a federal solution instead of sticking to it's own version of solution.

Surrender story never will go well with the image VP built among the global Tamils. Expecting KP to release the info of VP surrendered with SLA, then subsequently killed after tortured will give negative impact. I doubt that KP will publicly announce the VP's surrender/execution since whatever said about VP- fearless leader and military genius- would become myth in overnight.

It really isn't a rumor. They DID surrender. The only rumor is if Prabhakaran, Soosai and Poddu Amman were involved in that surrender. Tamilnet has admitted (and several reporters have spoken with Nadesan on the phone and got the same message) that Nadesan, Charles Anthony, Pulidevan and many others surrendered to the Sri Lankan army and were "massacred" along with 1,000 wounded cadres.

The surrender story is not the rumor, that is already proven. The only rumor is whether Prabhakaran was involved in that surrender.

1) Prabhakaran and Charles Anthony have the exact same wound in the forhead. Charles Anthony is confirmed as execution by Tamilnet. It is logical to assume Prabhakaran's similar wound is caused by the same method.

2) The body is not a mask. They have taken photos over two days, and the photo has aged as a dead body should.

3) The alternative is to accept that Prabhakaran tried to escape while leaving Nadesan, Charles Anthony, Pulidevan and 1,000 wounded cadres to surrender to the Sri Lankan army. Does that make any sense? What would be the use of Prabhakaran escaping while his son was in the hands of the Sri Lankan army?

4) It is known that Prabhakaran was in the tiny LTTE area of control (800 square meters) when the surrender negotiations were on. It is only logical to conclude he was to be included in it. The alternative is to think that everyone else was going to surrender, but Prabhakaran alone was going to try to escape while being surrounded by 50,000 soldiers. If he was in the area while surrender was being negotiated, then it is safe to assume the surrender included him as well.

5) The body of Prabhakaran did not have the watch, gun belt or ID tag on as it would normally. This suggests these items had been confiscated during a surrender.

6) Both the body of Charles Anthony and Prabhakaran were very fresh when the press took the videos. Charles Anthony even had fresh blood pouring out of his wounds. This shows they had been killed just prior to filming. Prabhakaran's body also had very bright eyes and skin was perfectly clean and bright. The claim that he was killed the day before in a fire fight, but then found one day later cannot be true. The body was not one day old by the condition.

I will be extremely happy when KP proves me wrong, and I will personally post that I am an idiot when it happens. But I don't expect he will be proving me wrong.

If everyone including pottu and VP did surrender and got killed as you claimed, good riddance. Now, the tamils should be careful in choosing the leader who walk the talk.

The island says the following:

["Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told The Island the body of Prabhakaran’s second son hadn’t been found."]

I suspect if they do kill his younger son, they will burn the body and never reveal it. Same with his wife. It is a war crime to kill minors and civilians, so they will never publicize it, but I am sure they have done it. They had already reported that both were in the war zone.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

From Island:

"The ICRC last night said the LTTE had wanted to surrender to the Sri Lankan Government through the ICRC.

ICRC spokesperson Sarasi Wijeratne told The Island the LTTE request had been passed to the relevant Sri Lankan authorities.

She said the message was given to the Government before Monday’s killing of LTTE leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran."

I wonder what is their percentage in 2009 when capturing civilians

but ltte civil authorities are 100% ltte so that is why SLA killed them all

That is a possibility. What about Charles Anthony? His body was together with Nadesan, so it seems he was part of the surrender process. Would Prabhakaran plan to surrender his son to the Sri Lankan army? That would severely compromise things in the future.

It's possible all of them were captured at the same time, but all others were killed on day one, and Prabhakaran was killed on day two after torturing. There seems to be several burn marks on the body, which have been covered by mud.

I believe the chronology of events could be like this

1. Tigers waited for election results of india on May 16th which cong won.so they know there will be none to bail out them. They made a request thru ICRC for surrender which was relayed to GOSL.

2. First trio of Nadesan, Pulidevan & CA surrender & they were treated nicely with even
CA posing nicely for the photo. GOSL was just waiting for the big Fish Praba , Susai etc to surrender.

3. After a day seeing the good response recevived by the trio, the MIlitary guys Praba,Soosai & Pottu agree to surrender to save the lifes of civilians.Once they are captured, CA was killed along with Nadesan & pulidevan.that explains the one day old beard
on the face of CA when he was killed & the smiling photo release by army.

4. After that Prabha was asked to talk to KP which he did & gave statement to lay down arms.
KP was not aware taht Prabha has surrendered & talking in custody of army.

5. Then Praba & Soosai are murdered after torture with Pottu yet alive just to get more intelligence information from him.Soon he will also float in some canal.

6. All the 25000 civvies including Prabha wife & second son massacred with none to defend them.

End of Eelam...

SAD but reality.

Another rumor posted by a sinhala:

""LTTE top leaders made contact with a 3rd party party and GoSL arranged for their surrender provided they release thousands of civilians. It happened around the time MR was in Jordan. Upon release of the civilians, top brass of the ltte was released to the 3rd party. The 3rd party basically handed over the leaders to GoSL, double crossing ltte. This explains why Pottu was not there, as ltte could have gotten a little suspicious, or may be Pottu was released and still in custody? Praba along with others were captured, interrogated and then killed. I believe this for many reasons."

["Why did they surrender instead of taking cyanide?"]

There will be different explanations. No one will know the truth.

1) To save the 1,000 wounded cadres and 25,000 wounded civilians.

2) Because they were told it wasn't a surrender, but a laying down of arms followed by negotiations.

3) After everyone else died, they decided they didn't want to die.

4) I have no idea.

Maybe someone else can come up with ideas.

Was wearing the cyanide pill just for show??????

Badri, thanks a lot for at least trying to answer this question.

When you talk in a straightforward manner, it is very hard to make jokes. That's a lot more than I can say for Peter's "Thalaivar is an immortal God" crap.

"1) To save the 1,000 wounded cadres and 25,000 wounded civilians."

Taking cyanide would have saved the civilians anyway, since with all of the Tigers dead there would be no need for further hostilities. The wounded cadres more than anyone else should have taken cyanide.

I know this is an old video, but still leaves me speechless and with a tear in my eye.

With the whole capture theory... i beleive it. Initial photos showed vp even without a bulletproof vest. Would you venture out to 50,000 sinhala soldiers without even wearing a bulletproof vest? I don't think so... As much as I feel for the movement, I can't help but feel disappointed. I know this may make a few internet moddayas happy, but I am disappointed in the leadership for even wanting to surrender... :(

Whether vp is dead or not, it's really pointless atm. the struggle has changed dimension and we must adapt to that. We have to esnure that Eelam is one day acheived. We must carry on the movement... the responsibility relies on our shoulders more now than ever before....

Veeran said...

[weren't the Tigers supposed to suck cyanide instead of surrendering ]

The reason could be that the TOP level GOSL must have convinced them to surrender like Karuna.

As per Badri quote, it is clear that Nadesan was talking to top level Foreign Minister of GOSL.

So to save the civilians & for negotiations for Political settlement Tiger top level team might have surrendered only to be fucked up.

It is a COLLECTIVE failure of top brass of tigers.

wait for kp to clear everything up. to disprove shit lankan govt. claims, vp would need to make a video announcement disproving all this. at this point it would be very risky for his staff to upload this electronically, coz it could be traced - even if its via satellite internet, which pulithevan used. therefore this would have to be done by someone physically taking the video/video file and hand delivering through multiple anonymous human couriers to somewhere outside shit lanka. this would at the least take a week or more.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

Further speculations. It is possible Charles Anthony was in the first batch of surrenders with Nadesan, and with that they could blackmail Prabhakaran to surrender. Also it appears they were given guarantees from the Sri Lankan foreign minister as well as ICRC that they would be safe and negotiations would be done for Tamil problem.

It was all a lie obviously. But just getting into a situation where you have to surrender is a huge failure of the leadership, and I feel it would only be possible if someone tricked them to stay in the war zone with false assurances.

Even if we say they surrendered to save the 1,000 injured cadres, that isn't an acceptable answer. You do not need top level leaders to remain in the war zone and surrender in order to look after 1,000 injured cadre. Lower level cadre can do that. Their fate will be the same whether or not the leaders remained there, so the leaders should have escaped long before, if their plan was not to die. There was no reason for basically the entire LTTE leadership to stay behind.

Still bodies of Soosai and Poddu Amman not displayed, but both declared found.

Not meaning to offend anyone, but Kilinochi will never fall, its a pipe dream of Mahinda's. Tamilnet has not been 100% honest and clear about the situation, so right now the evidence points to all leaders being dead.

If Tamilnet wants to clear something up, I'm still waiting for them to clear up Ananthapuram. Tell us what happened there first. 15 military leaders apparently died there, but not a single word from Tamilnet. You may say it was all government propaganda, but I have come to admit it was true. If they won't clear that up after 2 months, then I don't see what's the point of waiting for them before I accept the truth.

The Tamil heroes have fought valiantly and lost this battle. We were out manned 20 to 1, and out gunned with 5 countries supplying weapons to Sri Lanka. The new helicopters and airplanes were the key. Our anti aircraft missiles were old generation and couldn't intercept them. Their massive amounts of artillery guns allowed them to rain bombs on our people before the battles even began. It was an unfair battle, but our people sacrificed everything and fought bravely to the death. I would like their sacrifices to at least be acknowledged in places like Tamilnet.

Dear Badri,veeran,TN thamizh...
The therories you are posting are valid. But the way peter & TN thamizh says it cannot be also has got valid points.

It might not have been necessary to take cyanide during that time.
Even if they have surrendered, they would have done for so many reasons like,
1. To save the civilians
2. Hoping for further negotiations (no one is alive to negotiate)
3. Families were with them

But one thing we have to keep in mind. They fought for the freedom of tamils. If they have surrrendered and then got killed, the sinhalese had deceived us. That should give more anger on the single cells and not on the Tamil leaders who surrendered for the life of the 25000 civilians.
They also would have known that they would get killed by surrendering(atleast 50%). Still they have gone for that option. Ground realities would have forced them to do that. Or that would have been the best option as far as they were thinking during that time.

More over, please see the recently released photos. The head of VP is not covered.
In the first set of pictures released yesterday, they have covered his ears and head. In fact in the video, go to time 1.51 to 1.58, you can see there was no ear at all. But the ear is at 5.05 - it is not the ear of VP. More over he has double chin which was not there in the yesterdays video. It was clean and he was with the Uniform etc....

But in today's photos yes it seems the ear is of VP and the entire structure of the face is VP. And the body has not got clean shave.
But today, he is stripped off clothes etc.
May be yesterday they tried to do some idiotic things by doing some mask. But by yesterday night they could have found the body of VP some where in the logoon. I think by around 1.30 pm SL time they started announcing this - during that time i was talking to one of my friend in colombo and he said just hold for a moment - they are showing VP's body on the TV.
But by midnight they came with different body altogether. DNA test required atleast 2 days to confirm. not in 3 to 5 hours.
May be the Army would have released some stupid masked photos but was on continious search for the body.
They could have found the body by the evening and could have taken Karuna to the spot to identify the body. Then they have uploaded the photos at the site by midnight. But Karuna's face shows - its inevitable.

So the leaders would not have surrendered but would have got injured or dead in the battle. Probably Pottu would have got injured and gone to unconcious state and would have got captured alive.

I think the entire Ogre posting on DW is to fool the tamils and make us to think that VP has surrendered so that we start feeling low. Thats why he was acting as if he has leaked some news which is a top secret one and trying to cover it up. Otherwise they would not have come with different stories.
Mahinda's coming to the country on Saturday - 16th may be due to the fact that CA, Nadesan, Pulidevan have got surrendered and not for VP as KP has not called for silencing the guns upto Sunday.

But if VP is dead, its a death of a soldier and not a coward. Even if he has surrendered and shot it is the death of a warrior.
He took the arm for the dignity of the TAMILS and not for himself. He fought with somany countries simultaneously and kept the bigger nations on their feet for 25 long years.

He had been killed at least 4 times before, only to come back very strongly.
His death should be the inspiration to all the Tamils and if he had been shot after surrendering, then it should give us more anger towards the deceivers and we need to do waht ever possible in the future.

This is my view as a common tamil.

Three possibilities:

1. VP is safe in an undisclosed location.

2. VP surrendered, was tortured and killed.

3. VP was killed in battle.

What difference does any of the above three permutations make to you?

For all those speculating on VP's status and last hours, assume the worst.

But don't forget, harping on about it will not make an iota of differnce to the status-quo.

Instead,

1. Do all you can to bring to justice the Sri Lankan regime that ordered and carried out the killing of seriously injured and long-term disabled people.

2. Try to find out what happened to the last 30, 000 civilians whom SLA still hasn't declared captured or "rescued".

3. Now that "conflict is over", demand that independent personal from media, aid agencies and UN be given unrestricted access to the Tamil civilian population.

More over, always, IC has said that LTTE and VP are the blocks for any political solution.
Now VP is either killed or not going to surface for another 6 months - there should be good progress towards the political solution.

If a accepatable solution is tabled and VP comes back after 6 months, people would say "Thank yuo VP - but your struggle is not required, stay calm"/. Else people would take arms again with VP (in case he comes back) or under a new leader.

Please remember VPs interview with Anita pratap.
"Even if I am dead, i will create a organisation which will take the struggle forward for the next 40 years if needed"

3. Now that "conflict is over", demand that independent personal from media, aid agencies and UN be given unrestricted access to the Tamil civilian population.]

Just as another Tamil, I feel saddened by the events unfolding lately. By the time UN aid workers are there, they would have mopped up their war crime evidences from the ground.

Apologies if I've come across as rude in last few comments. I understand people's frustrations, but I think most recent comments have been needless.

If leadership made mistakes, surrendered and died, then going on about it makes no difference as those who made the mistakes are not around any longer.

If leadership is alive and well, most of the comments here would be void anyway.

------------

Therefore, it is essential that we concentrate on the civilian issue.

How many times have we come across Western states naming VP as stumbling block who would not settle for maximum devolution?

Now that VP is "dead", demand for that devolution they promised.

How many times have the "conflict" been used as an excuse to limit independent access to Tamil areas? Any one remembers post-tsunami?

Now that the "conflict is over" demand that independent personal be given unrestricted access to the Tamil region.

--------------

More than 300, 000 people are detained in internment camps to avoid LTTE "regrouping".

LTTE can't survive without VP they say. All LTTE leaders are "dead"; who can "foot soldiers" regroup around? Given LTTE is "wiped out" is the detention of so many thousands justified?

--------------

Vivek has made a very sensible comment. Apparent demise of LTTE and VP, offers everyone an opportunity to put IC's promises to the test. Should IC fail us, VP will return (or for those who believe he is dead, a new VP will be made).

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

I think it is important to keep the protests going to show that it was for the civilians and not just to save the LTTE leadership. The sinhalese have always charged that the protests were not actually about the civilians. Now the IC has no excuse to pressure Sri Lanka to help the civilians.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

Did they really need to kill Nadesan's wife? Everything that they do is just despicable. We are all helpless to watch.

Tamilnet has not properly highlighted the 1,000 injured LTTE cadres that were rumored to have been killed (not sure if it was confirmed by Tamilnet or not). Newspapers have not even reported it. That is a much more important headline, than saying 2 LTTE leaders were killed as they surrendered. Both are terrible, but 1,000 compared to 2.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

I just rechecked the Tamilnet postings, except Soosai's original statement, there is not even a mention of the 25,000 injured civilians that are supposed to be in the war zone. Not sure what to make of it. Did they disappear and then Tamilnet decide not to report it and instead report 2 leaders were murdered? If the stories are true, they need to highlight the 25,000 civilians and 1,000 wounded cadres.

I just wish, if there was going to be a surrender, it should have been in January before everyone was killed.

I feel exactly the same and to be honest this has sapped the energy out of a lot of tamil people. But it is vital that the protests continue. As mentioned earlier, the fact that the LTTE no longer exists militarily, gives the West no excuse at all to step in. We must push for war crimes to be investigated, as well as unrestricted aid and media. How useful the latter will be remains to be seen, as GoSL will clean everything up before they grant them entry. I still feel that we should push forward with a referendum for a separate state. I know it seems unfeasible, but we must push for it. Does anyone know how the referndum in East Timor came about?

Again, I'm not sure how useful this will be because colonisation is already gearing up. They want to destroy the idea of a Tamil homeland and the only way to erase that ideology is by colonisation...

East Timor became a Portuguese colony in the 16th century, while much of the rest of the region was controlled by the Dutch, and known as the Dutch East Indies. The former Dutch colony emerged as the independent Republic of Indonesia in the 1950s, while East Timor remained under Portuguese control until 1975. While 90% of Indonesians are Muslim, the East Timorese are primarily Roman Catholic, a result of Portugese influence.

Read East Timor's Country Profile

East Timor was annexed by Indonesia after the Portuguese withdrawal, and its people began an independence movement almost immediately. East Timor's struggle for independence was brutally repressed by Indonesian military forces for over 25 years. More than 200,000 Timorese are reported to have died from famine, disease, and fighting since the annexation.

International Attention on East Timor

The most publicized of Indonesia's conflicts, East Timor has received international attention because of the many reports of human rights abuses. In 1996 two East Timorese activists, Bishop Carlos Filipe Ximenes Belo and José Ramos-Horta, received the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to bring about a peaceful resolution to East Timor's situation.

Another internationally known rebel leader, José Alexandre Gusmão, was recently released from an Indonesian prison. He was elected the first president of East Timor in April 2002.

The Independence Referendum

East Timor President José Alexandre “Xanana” Gusmão

In Feb. 1999, Suharto's successor, President B. J. Habibie, unexpectedly announced that he was willing to hold a referendum on East Timorese independence. Though many Timorese had long hoped for this news, the sudden Indonesian about-face exacerbated fighting between separatist guerrillas and the paramilitary forces, who are against Indonesia's withdrawal.

Twice rescheduled because of violence, a U.N.-organized referendum to decide whether East Timor would secede from Indonesia took place on Aug. 30, 1999. The East Timorese voted overwhelmingly for independence from Indonesia and when the results were announced, the region descended into a state of anarchy:

I feel that first of all things need to be kept clear here. Prabha is still alive. He was probaily never in the war zone in the last few days. Senior LTTE leaders were also not around. Its people like Nadesan, pulidevan who were left behind.

Why? simple. They are in the civil division and leadership is required for the last cadres. Its not good for cadres to see that their leaders have left. Charles Anthony is not mentioned anywhere in tamilnet that he was killed. Yet I see that repeated here.

Even if charles anthony is killed or left behind its simple. Prabha wants his men to take a last stand yet he is not there. Hence he leaves his son who is supposedly in the civil division for this. At least his son is seen around, the cadres would not dispair.

Many people are desperate to know what happen to commanders like deepan. Whathever happen and however is left will not be revealed. Simply because should another fight occur, the "dead" people will lead it.

The only reason nadesan and pulidevan wanted to surrender is to save the cadres who were badly injured as well as their family members. Sri Lankan army knew the remants were Pro tiger and would not hestitate.

The problem here with both the Sri Lankan and eelam blog posters is that most of you have not served in an armed forces before. Thats the reason why you speculate many things.

Most of the leadership would have anticipted things to come when kilinocchi fell. Unless one is stupid to think that when Mahindha censors the military deaths that he would care whether another 10000 died.

Its simple and I have stated this before. Its LTTE's time to wait. The BJP outcome in India would have left the leaders to return and fight as they would have expected support and pressure from India.

When my dad was in the cadets he went camping with the gurkhas. One father and son team was there. The father a sergaent and the son a leiutant. The father saluted the son. My father asked why and he said it the army my son is my superior and at my home I am.

This applies to charles. If he was not a capable military commander, then prabha must have transfered him to the civil side. Secondly charles who never have been choosen to suceed the organistation. This will cause division in the organisation.

I do not whether why the father prabha is not balding yet gentically linked son is. If it is really prabha, now that charles scarificed himself to the organisation he is a matyr.

Or like his family they will not be in Eelam or Sri Lanka. I mean if soosai's family can try to escape, do you think prabha's would not have gone first.

I do not know how some of you think. You mix flim romance of wars with reality. Douglas Mac Arhtur left the philipines only to promise to return which he did. Likewise charles de gaulle. Does anyone look at them as cowards for not dying at the last stand.

Of all the people the least likely to be killed would be pottu amman. I mean the mastermind of so many assinations yet he had no inteligence on what was happening.

Now the situation will continue to get worst in sri lanka once the euphoria dies down and reality strikes. The LTTE on the other hand will start rebuilding the organisation.

Someone mentioned no sucide bombings etc. Well simple because now the advatage is tamils. Apparently no more terrorist but victims like in 1983. Hence build on the sympathy and they will clamour their self governing state.

The Sri Lankan racist will prevent this at all cost. Give 6 months and the maverar day speech to come out. Its just like the east. Slowly infiltrate build from there and do gurellia attacks.

A psychology lesson for you guys
--------------------------------

The following phases describes the human behavior in an event of a death of a loved one. Our diaspora goons (including tamilnut) are currently in the second phase (denial phase). The third phase is more dangerous. Let's wait until the complete all the phases.

* The first phase is shock. Similar to learning of a terminal illness, the first reaction of a person who is told that a loved one has died is, "No." A feeling of numbness sets in. Some people simply say that life seems unreal.

* The second phase is denial. We are a death denying society. Even our language tends to deny the reality of death by using terms such as "passed away" instead of the word "dead." We want to deny that death has taken place. In the denial phase, people hope that it isn't true. They may feel like this is just a bad dream and when they wake up, every thing will be all right. However, healing from grief can not take place until the person is past this step and has accepted the reality of death.

* The third phase is anger. Once our minds accept the fact that death has indeed taken place, anger usually erupts. Again, this anger may be directed at God (which for a religious person results in a feeling of guilt for feeling that way about the Almighty) or it may be directed to doctors, medicine in general, another family member or even directed inwards ("If only I had"). Again, guilt enters. Anger may also be directed at the world in general. "How can everyone just go about their business when such a tragedy has just happened?"

* The fourth phase is mourning. This is usually the longest lasting phase. It can last for months or years. It may be characterized by feelings of depression, continued guilt, physical illness, loneliness, panic, and periods of crying triggered for no apparent reason.

* The fifth phase is recovery. Some would not call this phase recovery, because it can be said that one never "recovers" from a death. Death changes our lives forever. Things will never be "right" again. Although the pain of death will diminish in time, it never goes away. We will always long for a person we truly loved. But at some point, we usually find ourselves re-establishing our lives and moving on. That is seen in this phase.

Even Col R Hariharan raises doubt on the abulance story and the fact if they were travelling together. He blames battle conditions. Now you know why the IPKF lost when their inteligence man is so stupid. Defence.lk says they found soosai's body and comming up shortly.

Again if you were killed in a van. you should all appear together. The SLA is the one which is stuck in its own spin.

Many people forget prabha has the secrets on all the killings done on political leadership and also the Sri Lankan and Indian collabrators. You mean he is going down without threatening to reveal them.

If you assume thats why they were killed, wrong again. People like KP would have the information and use them to discredit mahindha and congress. What if he sells them for money. Wrong again because he will be dead before that. All boils to the fact that since nothing is revealed is why prabha is alive.

This will be my last post on this blog.

Badrinath, navindran, m.g.k and Peter,

I must admit I am amazed with the tenacity of yours to keep denying things.

I think now the time has come for your guys to accept what has happened. Your international guy ‘KP’ has taken you guys for a ride and, by the looks of it, he will continue to do so for years to come.

It however, appears, from reading some comments, Peter and Badri have come to some senses to some extent. But I don’t see others have come to that level yet.

The Eelam struggle has failed miserably. Tamils have lost two generations and it is time to draw a line in the sand and move on.

Tamils have much to offer to Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka will welcome that. Some Tamils may never do that and it is up to them. Equal opportunities don’t mean more - It means nothing more, nothing less.

It is up to peace loving Tamils now to move on. Sinhalese will accept them from both arms. Time to be united and promote one and only identity which maters “:Sri Lankan” identity within a united Sri Lanka.

Dear Nutty Navindran,

Badri's posts today had put me in a somber mood, but you quickly pulled me out of it!

"They are in the civil division and leadership is required for the last cadres. Its not good for cadres to see that their leaders have left. Charles Anthony is not mentioned anywhere in tamilnet that he was killed."

Contrary to what you think, the overweight poruppalars do not lead the fighting cadres. The LTTE is (sorry, was) an organization where the military wing was dominant and the political wing subordinate. Nadesan, Pulithevan, and Chubby Charles were nobodies compared to commanders like Theepan and Sornam.

"The problem here with both the Sri Lankan and eelam blog posters is that most of you have not served in an armed forces before. Thats the reason why you speculate many things."

The Eelamoids should be extremely grateful to hear your insights as an experienced combat veteran.

So what is your military experience???

Can anyone answer that?

Quite a far cry from Peter's tortured meanderings why Thalaivar is still alive.

Has somebody dumped a bucket of cold water over Puthu Pete's head?

"2. Try to find out what happened to the last 30, 000 civilians whom SLA still hasn't declared captured or "rescued"."

I totally agree with Peter- let's gloss over the fact that Kumaran Pathmanathan most probably lied to the world about Thalaivar's fate, and instead focus on the civilians whom we'd forgotten for the past few months when we were waving LTTE flags in London and Paris.

Saul said...

"Now VP is either killed or not going to surface for another 6 months - there should be good progress towards the political solution."

Things are not so simple.

Before we can even begin to address the "political solution," Tamil society is going to have to recover from the mess that the LTTE had put it in. For example, there are no independent Tamil leaders because the LTTE killed all of them. The only ones who have survived- Douglas and Karuna- had to adopt LTTE-like anti-democratic qualities.

If Puthu Pete thinks things will be solved in 6 months he might as well go back to blabbering about Iraqi-style insurgency. It took the Indian Constituent Assembly over 2 years to come up with a constitution- and this took place under relatively ideal circumstances- an Indian polity unified with the victory over the British, and no post-war reconstruction or shattered societies to fix.

Political solutions generally require time and patience. You also can't rely too much on confrontational activity- it worked against the British, because their country was thousands of miles away from S. Asia. The Sinhalese are not going anywhere, so you'll have to reconsider the failed approaches of the past (as will we).

wijayapala said...

Saul,

"Because these 2 Tamils are more equal than thousands of Tamils, excuse my doublethinkspeak."

I would actually welcome the conversion of Eelamoids into human beings who care about other humans. If they want to dump the LTTE and focus their efforts on securing the well-being of those in the welfare centers, then more power to them.

That would make me that much more grateful to the SLA/SLN/SLAF/police for wiping out the LTTE and giving the Tamil diaspora something more constructive to work on.

If people have to move forward the political solution must come first at least in formal written agreement with UN acceptance and then reconciliation can only begin if sri lankan government is willing to face the people over the killings they done.

Karuna Amman as well have face the 500 police family he murdered.

Nedumaran gave a long interview in 'Zee TV Tamil' yesterday:

- Prabhakaran is alive. I am saying this with all certainity.

- Visuals shown are fake.

- No reason for the LTTE or for us to deny if he had been really killed.

- The face in the visual looks much younger.

- Army had announced that DNA tests were conducted. Facilities for that test is not available in srilanka and it takes a minimum of 10 days to get the results.

- KP had spoken once again and confirmed that it is fake.

- LTTE has many divisions. After the loss of Killinochi they were disbursed into small groups through out north and east.

- Decision to switch over to guerilla warfare was taken after Killinochi war.

- Most of their arms and ammunitions have also been shifted accordingly.

- (Karunanidhi also told the reporters that he cannot make any comment on Prabhakaran's death as it has not been confirmed)

- (Tag looks fresh and the ID card reads as 'Thiruvengadam'?)

Is this Prabhakaran? Are you really sure? By: S Suresh Kumar

Some reasons this body may not be Prabhakaran's

Is the Sri Lankan government playing a trick on the international community by showing a body double and claiming it to be Prabhakaran? Here are some questions observers are asking.
Why is he so good looking?
Not matching: The skin tone on the face and the ear aren't the same. His son (inset), also killed in the battle, looks older than him.

Prabhakaran is 54, but the picture shows him without a single wrinkle. His son Charles looks older in the picture the Lankan army has released. There's something dubious about the way his face is shown. If his skull were blown off, as claimed by the army, how come his face is so neat and untouched? If he were hiding and on the run, as claimed by the army, how come he looks fresh and clean-shaven? Have the soldiers put a Prabhakaran mask on someone's face?
Why isn't his ear matching his face? The skin tone of his ear is darker than the tone of his face. Have the soldiers hired a prosthetic expert to graft a face on to some corpse? Are they doing a Dasavatharam gag in real life? It looks like the mask is peeling off when the soldiers move the body.
How could they do a DNA test in two hours? Experts say it takes at least four days to do a DNA test. How could the army do it in two hours, that when they say they found the body in a remote jungle? How did they move his blood or bone marrow sample to a forensic lab so quickly? Did the army have an ante-mortem report (say, tissue or blood samples from before his death) against which they could corroborate their theory that it was Prabhakaran who was dead? Questions, questions…
Do Tamil politicians know something we don't?Nedumaran of Tamil Desiya Iyakkam said he knew for sure that Prabhakaran was alive. Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi said he wouldn't react to reports of Prabhakaran's death. What's stopping them from accepting the footage released by the Lankan army?
Wasn't cyanide Prabhakaran's preferred mode of exit? He gave capsules to all his Tigers so that they could kill themselves instantaneously when cornered. Why didn't he bite his cyanide capsule when he knew his game was up? Few believe he was shot in battle. Tamil lore has it that he always carried two capsules with him. The army claimed to have identified him with the help of rebel LTTE leaders Karuna and Daya Master, and posted a picture of the body on the country's army website. The body here and the body in the TV footage don't match.

(These questions were asked as of 3.30 am today. Lanka may come up with some explanations through the day, but many questions are likely to remain unanswered).
DNA in 2 hours? Just impossibleChandrashekhar G was a part of the forensic team assigned the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Now retired, he lives in Yelahanka. We asked him what he thought of the Lankan army claims about Prabhakaran, and he was incredulous they had done a DNA test within two hours. "It is impossible," he told MiD DAY. "We need at least four days to put it through a DNA sequencer and arrive at some conclusion."In his own words:
When I visited Sri Lanka some years ago, they had no lab to do DNA tests. I had several questions when I saw the footage. I wondered if a prosthetic expert had been at work to put a face on top of some other. Ante-mortem reports, or reports from before death, are always necessary to confirm identity.

Whenever a leader dies, they need to keep the body till the case is done. But governments are sometimes in a hurry to dispose of the body… like Pakistan did when Benazir was blown up. If they preserve the body, they can always get tissue samples for culture. I don't know if Lanka will keep this body and allow cross verification.

Indian,

Prabhakaran has chosen this elusive life as his choice for the past 36 years. He was never afraid of his life, so he would not have surrendered.

Capturing him was also not possible. As he was supposed to have holed up in small patch of land surrounded by thousands of troops, he would have expected the danger every moment. At the worst, he would have commited suicide.

Another possibility is that he would have been killed while fleeing. A leader who had planned meticulously so many wars and masterminded innumerable operations would not have remained inside NFZ till the end if that was his intention.

Even if he was killed, Tigers would not have left his body stranded. He had said many times that if anything goes wrong, his enemies should not get hold of even his ashes.

Finally, Prabhakaran is not the type who would give up so easily.

I stand by what Nedumaran had said.

The most favorable story that can be recreated would be:

1) Nadesan, Pulidevan and Charles Anthony surrender to the Sri Lankan army to protect some injured LTTE cadres and are massacred

2) Prabhakaran, Soosai and Poddu Amman separately try to escape through the lagoon and are all shot. By coincidence the bullet is a direct hit on Prabhakaran's forehead. Soosai and Poddu Amman's bodies are never shown by the government for some reason. Prabhakaran decided not to wear any bullet proof vest during the escape, and freshly shaved the morning of the escape so that he looks like he does in the photos.

Sounds completely illogical, but could still be possible, and will likely be the official version accepted by Tamils.

Let us look at the Future of Tamils who are helpless & hopeless. Tamil Diaspora MUST make peace with India to salvage any tamil there.

If not, It is the end of Tamil race in Srilanka.

London, May 20 - ANI: The Sri Lankan Army has been reportedly accused of killing two senior LTTE leaders of the political wing, who were trapped in the war zone and wanted to surrender as per the Lankan Governments instructions.

In a flurry of emails, text messages and telephone calls that passed between NGOs, a Norwegian Government and Sri Lankan officials in Colombo, the two LTTE political leaders frantically inquired as to how they could give themselves up.

But the attempt to surrender by the head of the LTTEs political wing Balasingham Nadesan and Seevaratnam Pulidevan, who led the Tamil Tigers peace secretariat, failed, The Independent reports.

They were shot dead sometime between midnight on May 17 and the early hours of the next morning.

The chief intermediary for the two men was the Norwegian Governments Environment Minister Erik Solheim, apparently received calls from LTTE figures who said they wanted to surrender.

Trine Eskedal, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo, said: The minister said he spoke with Pulidevan at midnight, who gave him the message that the political leaders wanted to surrender (to the ICRC). At the time he could hear gunshots in the background. She said that an official, then contacted both the ICRC and the Sri Lankan Government.

The ICRC confirmed last night that it had received word from the Norwegians that the two leaders were looking to give themselves up.

The Sri Lankan Governments point man in the negotiations appears to have been Foreign Secretary Palitha Kohona. He said that in the days leading up to Sunday evening, he had received a number of messages indicating that Nadesan and Pulidevan wanted a way out.

Kohona said that his response had been that there was only one way to surrender that is recognised by military practice. He said they should obtain a white flag and give themselves up. I kept saying this for three days, he added.

Kohona produced a text message stored on his phone which he had sent to the NGO at 8.46 a.m. on Sunday, 16 hours before the Norwegian minister had his final conversation with the LTTE leaders.

The message in response to a question from the NGO as to whether the two political leaders would be safe if they gave themselves up read: Just walk across to the troops, slowly! With a white flag and comply with instructions carefully. The soldiers are nervous about suicide bombers.

LTTEs International Relations Head S. Pathmanathan on Tuesday accused Colombo of treachery in the killing of the political wing leaders, and said it is a crime against humanity that needs to be investigated.

We were instructed to make contact with the 58th Division of the Sri Lankan forces in the war zone, un-armed and carrying white flags. B. Nadesan and Puleedevan were un-armed and carrying white flags and were called on by the Officers of the 58th Division to come forward for discussions. When they complied they were both shot and killed, he added. - ANI

Defence.lk has removed the naked photos of Prabhakaran from the website to avoid bad publicity. The fact is they are happy to desecrate the body of a dead enemy, but they just don't want to show it to non-sinhalese.

I think we should ask for a land in Canada. It is so far the best place also Canada has lot of empty lads with no use of it. And also the political parties in Canada love us. I am sure, they will try to accomadate us. If any one can start a petition to send to PM Harper requesting him to accomadate all our LTTE lovers., I would definitely support it.

And also we can move the border line during the night and make our land bigger and bigger. Krishna will help us in this course. Siri langa is too small for our cause. If Canada refuse, Norway, swededn, Finland are very good places too. All the PM s in these countries are gay. I am sure they will not mind to do something about this.

I am so tired of protesting now. Siri Langa is too far, so they can't actually here us from Canada. If anyone of you have problem with this, please let me know ok.

Here is your political solution: ICRC banned from IDP camps

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been forced to suspend the distribution of emergency supplies to as many as 300,000 people displaced by the Sri Lankan Army’s victory over the Tamil Tigers after the Government blocked access to aid camps.

Fears have been growing over the welfare of those forced to flee the conflict zone – many of whom are sick or suffering from battlefield injuries – after tight restrictions were placed on the UN and other agencies trying to administer aid.

Urgently needed supplies of food and clothing had been suspended after access to the camps was restricted by the Government, an ICRC spokesperson told The Times this morning.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

Most of ICRC staff likely dead in the fighting:

The ICRC had been the only neutral aid organisation allowed inside the conflict zone. It had between 20 and 25 staff on the ground in the northeastern region where the Tigers made their last stand over the weekend but has not heard from them since last week.

Let us ASSUME that VP and all other leaders are killed. What TNA and tamil people should do now? Before 1987, India was with tmil people. After JR's cunning work, all went wrong. Now, India (Congress) settled the revenge for Rajiv with the killing or maiming of 50,000 Vanni civilians. Now, only option for tamil people and TNA is to lobby the Indian Govt through DMK for a federal solution first. DMK should also lobby the Central Govt to remove the malayali advisors (Narayanan, Menon etc..). If these malayalis are not removed from the advisor positions, no political solution would be possible for tamil people as these malayalis are in the GOSL payroll.

Editor: "Badrinath" said...

The photo of Charles Anthony may be coincidence. I just find it odd that the face is exactly matching the death photo, which means it is a very, very recent photo. The fact that the shirt was the same also made it odd. And the fact that the photo turned up only the day he died. The shirt also looks too clean, but then I suspect they were cheated and told they were safe and advised to shave, wear fresh clothes for photo purposes.

As far as the smile, in that situation, if you think you are meeting them to negotiate an end to the conflict, you will be polite, shake their hand, smile to them. At that point you don't know you are going to be tortured and killed.

Again the photo is not really so important. I feel the circumstances surrounding the deaths are more relevant. The head wounds, the calls to ICRC to negotiate surrender, the Sri Lanka foreign minister confirming he gave advice how to surrender to the army.

TT said...

I hope that now, we can all try and do the necessary to stop any further deaths amongst all communities and look forwards towards a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
just on the discussions here about contact from within the ltte leadership team and the outside world, eric solheim was interviewed on the bbc radio yesterday and he mentioned that even on the night before their deaths, he had been talking to pulidevan. So maybe thats your mole right there? you guys know more about the ins and outs than me, but theres direct proof that he was int contact with the outside world. It also tend to say that they werent captured and and shot later, because it was the night before, unless ofcourse solheim is telling lies.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p0031jfj

interview with him starts at 8:25. At the end he says that he was in contact with pulidevan and had talked to him the night before the tamil leadership was destroyed.
